Rakuten Kobo has introduced a new white version of its Kobo Clara Colour, giving readers in Singapore and worldwide a fresh design option for one of its most popular colour eReaders.
The Kobo Clara Colour in white will be available from 23 September 2025 at SGD239.90, both online at kobo.com and in major electronics retailers including Challenger and Courts. Pre-orders opened on Tuesday (Sep 10).
A Minimalist Addition to Kobo’s eReader Line
The new white edition adds a minimalist and timeless look to the Kobo Clara Colour range, which first launched in 2024 alongside the Kobo Libra Colour. Rakuten Kobo said the move responds directly to customer feedback, as white had been the most requested variant since launch.
“Our most popular feature request since launch has been ‘Clara Colour, but make it white!’ and we are happy to be able to meet that demand,” said Michael Tamblyn, Chief Executive of Rakuten Kobo.
The Clara Colour remains Kobo’s most compact full-colour eReader, featuring a six-inch E Ink Kaleido 3 display. The technology allows readers to enjoy crisp black-and-white text as well as vivid illustrations, making it suitable for novels, children’s books, and travel guides.
Features and Eco-Friendly Design
The Kobo Clara Colour retains the same features as its existing models. These include ComfortLight PRO for adjustable brightness, waterproofing with an IPX8 rating, and direct library borrowing via built-in OverDrive support. Users can also highlight text in multiple colours and access Kobo Plus, the company’s all-you-can-read subscription service.
Sustainability remains a key design priority. The device is made with recycled and ocean-bound plastic, part of Kobo’s broader effort to reduce waste across its product line.
Accessories for the device include the Kobo Clara Colour SleepCover, priced at SGD49.90 and available in six colours such as Candy Pink and Dusk Blue. Made from 97 per cent recycled plastic, including 10 per cent sourced from ocean-bound material, the cover aims to divert waste from landfills and oceans. Lower-priced options, including a Basic SleepCover and Clear Case, will be sold at SGD29.90.

With the launch of the white Kobo Clara Colour, Rakuten Kobo is expanding its appeal to readers who prefer more customisable and stylish devices. The company said it remains focused on enhancing the reading experience through design and technology, while broadening its eco-conscious product portfolio.
The Kobo Clara Colour in white will be available in Singapore from late September, with additional global availability through Kobo’s online store and retail partners.
