Samsung Electronics has unveiled three new smartphones in its Galaxy A Series – the Galaxy A17 5G, Galaxy A17 and Galaxy A07 – aimed at bringing AI features and improved security to more users at accessible price points.
The devices will be available in Singapore from 5 September 2025, with the Galaxy A17 LTE variant released later on 10 October 2025.
AI tools for everyday use
Samsung said the Galaxy A17 introduces several artificial intelligence (AI) functions previously available only on its flagship Galaxy S Series. These include Gemini activation via the side button and Gemini Live, which offers hands-free voice interaction across Samsung, Google and third-party apps such as Spotify.
The device also supports Circle to Search with Google, allowing users to quickly obtain information by circling items on screen or identifying music playing nearby.
Enhanced cameras and displays
The Galaxy A17 features a triple-lens camera system with a 50-megapixel wide lens, a 5MP ultrawide lens and a 2MP sensor. It also offers optical image stabilisation for clearer photos and videos in low-light conditions.
Both the Galaxy A17 and Galaxy A07 sport 6.7-inch displays, with the A17 using Super AMOLED technology. They support a 90Hz refresh rate and upgraded processors for smoother gaming, video streaming and multitasking.
Samsung said the two models come with long-lasting batteries and support 25W fast charging, designed for day-long connectivity.
Focus on security and durability
To enhance privacy, the Galaxy A17 and A07 include Samsung Knox Vault, which stores sensitive information in tamper-resistant hardware. They also feature Theft Protection, enabling remote screen locking and biometric authentication if the device is stolen. Auto Blocker, available across the new A Series, prevents unauthorised app installations and potential malware.
Samsung confirmed the phones will receive six generations of Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates, extending device longevity.
Both devices use glass fibre reinforced polymer for a lighter yet stronger rear cover, while the Galaxy A17 is equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front. They also carry IP54 ratings for dust and water resistance.
The Galaxy A17 is 7.5mm thick and weighs 192g (5G) or 190g (LTE), while the Galaxy A07 is 7.6mm thick and weighs 184g.

Local outreach campaign
Alongside the launch, Samsung Singapore is releasing an original comic series titled Uncle & Aunty Get Smart(Phone). The series, available in English and Mandarin at Samsung Experience Stores and major online retailers, aims to promote digital literacy among older consumers under the nationwide Digital For Life initiative.
With its expanded Galaxy A Series, Samsung is seeking to attract price-sensitive users who still want AI tools, durable design and long-term software support. Competitors such as Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo are also pushing mid-range smartphones with AI functions, reflecting a broader trend of premium features reaching lower price tiers.
