Samsung Electronics has unveiled the latest Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 smartphones at its Galaxy Unpacked event in Brooklyn, New York. Pre-orders are now open for users in Singapore.

Touted to be “Ultra in every way”, Fold 7 brings innovation to the foldable phone scene as it adopts features found in the premium S25 Ultra series — like its superior 200MP camera and Snapdragon 8 Elite processor — while remaining sleek.

Both the Fold 7 and Flip 7 phones are now thinner than before, and promise to offer better batteries and durability, advanced One UI 8 on Android 16, as well as stronger security with Samsung Knox Matrix.

Designed as a true multi-modal AI agent, the new One UI 8 software combines multitasking with intelligent tools that understand what users type, say and see.

They also have an AI-powered camera and privacy built into every layer with the new Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP).

Pre-orders for the series are available in Singapore from July 9 across Samsung’s online and official stores, as well as official e-retailers and telco operators. General availability will begin August 1.

Galaxy Z Fold 7: Ultra-like, but Thinner

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is now packed with a 200MP wide-angle camera from the S-Ultra series, while designed to be thinner and lighter than a S25 Ultra phone, weighing around 215g — the S25 comes in at 218g. The Fold 7 is 8.9mm thick when folded and 4.2mm thick when unfolded.

Coupled with Samsung’s ProVisual Engine, which processes images faster, Fold 7 allows users to create vibrant photos and videos. Users can also look forward to more colour depth with the new 10-bit HDR feature.

“We’ve redefined what a foldable can be with the Galaxy Z Fold7,” said Ronnie Ng, Head of Mobile eXperience at Samsung Electronics Singapore. “We’ve made it super slim and light, but packed it with ultra-like features.

“When unfolded, the large screen allows users to do more, including the ability to do side-by-side photo editing, or to display Galaxy AI-generated results in different windows on the same screen.”

Fold 7’s main display is now 11% larger than the previous generation.

What’s more, the device is designed for everyday durability with thinner and lighter Armor FlexHinge, which promises to withstand repeated folding or careless tossing in a bag.

Galaxy Flip 7: Pocket-Perfect AI

The Galaxy Flip 7 now features a new edge-to-edge FlexWindow display for greater usability. The 4.1inch Super AMOLED FlexWindow is said to be the largest ever cover screen on a Galaxy Z Flip.

“The new Galaxy Z Flip 7 will empower our consumers to do more than ever, thanks to the largest ever FlexWindow and advanced intelligence features – all within an ultra-compact design,” said Ng.

Weighing just 188 grams and measuring only 13.7mm when folded, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is also the slimmest Flip yet.

Like the Fold 7, the Flip offers multi-modal AI capabilities. With FlexWindow and more intuitive Galaxy AI, the phone offers users extensive functionality — users can conduct searches with their voice, get answers and take action directly on FlexWindow.

Additionally, with the new One UI 8 and Android 16 software on the Galaxy Flip’s iconic design, many tasks can now be handled right from the cover screen.

While the dual rear camera system remains unchanged with a 50MP Wide and 12MP Ultra-Wide lens, Samsung’s ProVisual Engine enables users to optimize every shot without any manual adjustments.

Samsung has also announced the budget-friendly Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, which features a 6.7inch Main Display for an immersive viewing experience.
