Singtel has unveiled 5G+, a next-generation upgrade to its existing 5G network, making it the first telco globally to offer nationwide network slicing to all users. This development marks a major leap in mobile connectivity, promising faster speeds, stronger security and seamless performance – even while roaming.
The key innovation behind 5G+ lies in network slicing – a cutting-edge 5G capability that allows portions of the network to be customised in real-time for specific applications. Previously reserved for enterprise use, Singtel is now rolling out this feature to everyday consumers, enabling them to benefit from personalised connectivity for smoother streaming, faster gaming and uninterrupted video calls.

“To become a truly Smart Nation… our fellow citizens must also be armed with the best mobile services,” said Ng Tian Chong, CEO of Singtel Singapore. “As Singapore celebrates SG60 this year, we thought it fitting as the national telco to make this technology available to the nation.”
Enhanced speeds, security and service

Since the start of May, Singtel has automatically upgraded users on SIM-only Plus and Ultra, L plans and above to 5G+ Priority at no extra cost. This offers up to four times faster speeds, guaranteed network access during peak hours and ultra-low latency, providing a premium experience across high-demand areas.
In addition to speed, enhanced cybersecurity has been built into the service, offering real-time protection against threats – even for customers roaming overseas. Singtel 5G+ users will also gain access to priority care, such as faster assistance in shops and hotlines, exclusive device discounts and early access to new handset launches.
Solidifying its 5G leadership
Singtel first rolled out nationwide standalone 5G coverage in 2022, three years ahead of regulatory timelines. Earlier this year, it became the only local telco to deploy the 700MHz spectrum, increasing network reliability by up to 40% in high-rise, indoor and remote areas.
Beyond consumer services, Singtel has deployed network slicing in sectors including public safety, healthcare, retail and transportation. It also pioneered app-based network slicing, enabling app developers to customise network performance for specific use cases – a first globally.
The telco has tested this technology in real-world settings such as the F1 Singapore Grand Prix, National Day Parade and international concert tours, setting the stage for what it calls “the future of 5G innovation”.
“We’re once again raising the bar… through our superior network quality enhanced by slicing,” said Ng.
Singtel’s 5G+ is positioned as a significant differentiator in Singapore’s highly competitive mobile landscape, aiming to deliver on both technological excellence and everyday utility.
