Singapore 100 Women in Tech 2025 Opens Nominations Amid Growing Push for Diversity

As Singapore marks its 60th year of independence, a new milestone is set for the country’s tech industry – the launch of the fourth edition of the Singapore 100 Women in Tech (SG100WIT) list. The initiative, led by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), aims to recognise female leaders and rising talents in tech, reinforcing the country’s push for diversity and innovation.

Themed “Empowering Yourself, Inspiring Others”, SG100WIT 2025 will honour 100 women across two categories: professionals driving change in the industry and students leveraging technology to make an impact. The Professional category will spotlight innovators who use tech for business and societal progress, while Girls in Tech will highlight young women excelling in STEM and entrepreneurship.

Rising Influence of Women in Tech

The growing recognition of women in Singapore’s tech sector is evident – last year’s SG100WIT saw a record 800 nominations, with submissions in the “Girls in Tech” category doubling. This upward trend reflects the increasing presence of women in technology, an industry that has long been male-dominated.

“The rise in nominations over the years is a testament to the growing influence of women in the industry,” said Tan Lee Chew, President of the Women in Tech Chapter at SCS and a senior executive at ST Engineering. “By showcasing these trailblazers, we inspire future leaders, break barriers, and shape the technology landscape of tomorrow.”

But while progress is being made, challenges remain. Women are still underrepresented in leadership roles across the sector, and initiatives like SG100WIT are crucial in ensuring continued momentum.

Dorcas Tan, Co-Chairperson of SG Women in Tech and an IMDA director, emphasised that diversity is essential as Singapore cements its position as a global tech hub.

“The role of women in shaping our digital future has never been more crucial. We must continue fostering an inclusive ecosystem where women can thrive, lead, and drive impactful change,” she said.

Building a Legacy for the Next Generation

SG100WIT has previously honoured women from diverse fields, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and business entrepreneurship. The initiative also serves as a platform to inspire young talent, ensuring a steady pipeline of women in STEM.

A judging panel comprising industry leaders and academics will select this year’s honourees, with the final list revealed at a ceremony in August 2025. Professor Alex Siow, a veteran in Singapore’s tech industry, will chair the panel.

Nominations for SG100WIT 2025 are now open until 30 April 2025. Individuals and organisations keen to nominate outstanding women in tech can do so here.
