Twilio Partners with Singtel to Bring Secure, Branded RCS Messaging to Businesses in Singapore

Twilio, a global customer engagement platform, has partnered with Singtel to offer businesses in Singapore a secure and branded messaging solution through Rich Communications Services (RCS) Business Messaging. The collaboration aims to enhance customer trust and engagement by providing interactive and verified communication directly in mobile inboxes.

With rising concerns around data privacy and security, businesses need to establish credibility in their communications. Twilio’s 2024 Consumer Preferences report found that 79% of Singaporean consumers are more likely to trust a brand’s communication if it includes a verification badge, while 68% consider branded text messages more trustworthy.

“As consumers grow increasingly savvy and discerning, they demand trusted and immersive experiences at every touchpoint,” said Robert Woolfrey, Vice President, APJ, Communications at Twilio. “RCS messaging offers an enhanced alternative to SMS and bridges the gap between traditional messaging and interactive experiences. We’re thrilled to partner with Singtel to empower businesses in Singapore to deliver exceptional customer experiences and foster trusted, meaningful relationships.”

Terence Lai, Vice President of Digitalisation, Products and Partnerships at Singtel, highlighted the importance of immersive interactions for businesses. “Our partnership with Twilio enables businesses in Singapore to tap on RCS messaging to deliver rich and interactive communications that can improve their engagement with their customers in new and exciting ways.”

Simplified RCS Implementation for Businesses

Twilio’s platform makes it easy for businesses to adopt RCS messaging with:

  • Automatic upgrades: SMS messages are upgraded to RCS on supported devices at no extra cost for messages up to 160 UTF-8 characters.
  • Immediate testing: Businesses can build branded profiles and test messaging within the Twilio Console.
  • Zero code changes: Approved senders can activate RCS without modifying APIs or configurations.
  • Enhanced analytics: Businesses gain access to engagement insights, including RCS read receipts, through Twilio’s dashboards.

Singapore is the first Asian market where Twilio is rolling out RCS Business Messaging, following adoption in the United States, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Mexico, and Brazil.
