Singtel has announced that it is the first telecommunications provider in Singapore to deploy the 700 MHz spectrum, a move that significantly enhances its 5G coverage across the island. This latest upgrade, branded as Singtel 5G+, strengthens signal penetration by up to 40% in high-rise buildings, underground locations, and remote areas, offering improved reliability for both consumers and enterprises.

Seamless Connectivity Across Singapore

The introduction of the 700 MHz band allows Singtel to extend its 5G reach to peripheral regions such as Tuas, Kranji, Sungei Kadut, Changi East, and Jurong Island. These areas, which house factories, warehouses, and military camps, often face challenges in installing telecommunications infrastructure due to spatial constraints.

With the new spectrum, Singtel customers – including those on enterprise plans, postpaid, prepaid, and GOMO 5G, will benefit from enhanced connectivity at no additional cost. An estimated 1.5 million subscribers stand to gain from this upgrade.

Stronger Signals in Dense Urban Environments

Singapore’s dense urban landscape presents unique connectivity challenges, particularly in basement carparks, HDB estates, and high-rise office buildings, where concrete structures can obstruct signals. The low-frequency 700 MHz band enhances penetration in these environments, ensuring smoother data transmission and clearer voice calls.

Businesses reliant on real-time video surveillance, emergency response systems, and industrial automation will also experience improved performance, thanks to more reliable signal transmission.
