Samsung Electronics Singapore has introduced its latest solid-state drive (SSD), the 990 EVO Plus, featuring cutting-edge PCIe 4.0 support and Samsung’s proprietary NAND technology. Aimed at consumers seeking faster data processing speeds and expanded storage capacities, the 990 EVO Plus delivers enhanced performance for business tasks, creative projects, and gaming.
The 990 EVO Plus is designed to meet the growing demand for high-performance storage, offering sequential read speeds of up to 7,250 megabytes-per-second (MB/s) and write speeds of up to 6,300MB/s, making it 50% faster than its predecessor, the 990 EVO. Additionally, its power efficiency has improved by 73%, thanks to its advanced 8th-generation V-NAND technology and a 5-nanometer controller.
“As consumers create higher-quality images, video content, and engage in next-generation gaming, this creates a corresponding demand for high-performance, high-capacity storage options,” said Jacus Long, Head of Display Business at Samsung Electronics Singapore. “The 990 EVO Plus offers the best-in-class SSD experience to consumers, workers, and gamers alike.”
Expanded Storage and Cooling Solutions

For those requiring additional storage space, the 990 EVO Plus introduces a 4TB model that surpasses the storage capacity of its predecessor. The new SSD also incorporates an innovative nickel-coated heat shield to minimize overheating, crucial for maintaining optimal performance during intensive tasks.
The SSD’s 4TB model boasts random read and write speeds of 1,050K IOPS and 1,400K IOPS, respectively, positioning it as an ideal choice for gaming, artificial intelligence (AI), and other data-heavy applications. The drive achieves this level of performance without using DRAM cache, making it a competitive option even against SSDs with DRAM.
Samsung Magician Software Integration
The 990 EVO Plus is fully supported by Samsung’s Magician software, which offers a suite of tools to optimize the drive’s performance. The software allows users to monitor SSD health, manage data migration during upgrades, and fine-tune performance, all while ensuring data security.
Availability and Pricing
The 990 EVO Plus SSD will be available in Singapore at the end of October through the Samsung Online Store, Lazada, Shopee, and select consumer electronics retailers. Prices start at S$159 for the 1TB model, S$268 for the 2TB model, and S$479 for the 4TB model, positioning it as a premium solution for those in need of top-tier performance and storage.
