Stellar Lifestyle has launched its first innovation space at Raffles Place MRT station, dubbed Hive Express, as part of its ongoing effort to integrate high-tech retail experiences into Singapore’s rail network. This new initiative builds on the success of the company’s Hive 2.0 innovation hub, aimed at helping merchants accelerate retail innovations in a faster and more cost-efficient manner across transit spaces.
Hive Express represents a significant step toward reimagining retail in MRT stations, with plans to introduce innovations such as smart vending machines and self-service checkout stores at more stations across Singapore.
Tony Heng, President of Stellar Lifestyle, highlighted Hive Express as a platform that provides small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with the opportunity to innovate in a high-traffic environment. “Building on the success of Hive 2.0, Hive Express creates even more opportunities for SMEs to innovate and test retail concepts within train stations. By harnessing new technologies and SMRT’s vast rail network, we can deliver unique retail experiences in compact spaces, enhancing convenience and enriching the daily journeys of commuters.”
The initiative aims to deliver more accessible, dynamic retail environments for commuters while offering SMEs a streamlined pathway to pilot new retail formats.
RedMart: First Partner at Hive Express
The first partner to occupy the new space is RedMart, Singapore’s leading online supermarket, which will operate vending machines stocked with curated daily necessities tailored to busy office workers and commuters. Customers can purchase items such as snacks, drinks, and personal care products through Lazada’s app at prices competitive with RedMart’s online offerings.
Martin Daney, Head of RedMart at Lazada Singapore, noted, “We want to help busy commuters save time by seamlessly integrating grocery shopping into their daily commute, while providing a wide assortment with competitive prices.”
