Zoom Introduces AI-Enhanced Collaborative Tool, Zoom Docs

Zoom Video Communications, Inc. has launched Zoom Docs, an AI-first collaborative document solution designed to enhance productivity and teamwork across the Zoom Workplace ecosystem. Powered by Zoom’s generative AI assistant, Zoom AI Companion, Zoom Docs aims to streamline collaboration by transforming meeting insights into actionable documents, available at no additional cost with Zoom Workplace paid licenses.

Zoom Docs is Zoom’s first Workplace product to integrate generative AI from the outset. “Zoom Docs is our first Zoom Workplace product with generative AI built in from the ground up; it effortlessly transforms information from Zoom Meetings into actionable documents and knowledge bases, so teams can stay focused on meaningful work,” said Smita Hashim, Chief Product Officer at Zoom. “With AI Companion available every step of the way, Zoom Docs is purpose-built to empower people to ‘work happy’ and give them more time back in their day.”

By leveraging AI Companion, Zoom Docs addresses critical challenges such as time wasted on repetitive tasks, information overload, and the need for better cross-functional alignment. The platform converts meeting outcomes into documents, jumpstarting content creation and adapting to various team needs, all while boosting overall productivity.

Key Features and Use Cases

Zoom Docs is designed to optimize teamwork and improve collaboration efficiency through various AI-powered features:

  • Meeting Collaboration: Simplify meeting collaboration by turning meeting content into meaningful documents. AI Companion centralizes meeting summaries and facilitates co-editing within meetings.
  • Business Documents: Generate and revise content like business proposals and reports effortlessly. AI Companion also supports translation into nine languages, making it easier for global teams to collaborate.
  • Project Planning: Manage complex projects with time-saving templates for briefs and tracking, improving visibility and organization across different stages of a project.
  • Information Hub: Create robust knowledge bases and wikis for onboarding, goal tracking, and more, ensuring a single source of information for teams.

Zoom Docs further enhances the core Zoom Workplace experience by allowing users to create, share, and co-edit documents directly during meetings. This integration ensures that meeting attendees can collaborate in real time, even from mobile devices, without leaving the meeting window. Users can also start and schedule meetings directly from a Zoom Doc, streamlining workflows and enhancing collaboration before, during, and after meetings.

Additional features include bulk permission settings for meeting attendees, customizable doc formats for meeting information, and the ability to share docs across Zoom Workplace via Team Chat, Mail, or during live meetings.

Customization and Centralized Content

Zoom Docs offers extensive customization options, allowing users to tailor documents to individual and team needs. Content blocks for texts, tables, images, charts, and more help to reduce the complexity of managing information across multiple apps. Users can also embed content from third-party platforms like Google Drive, Figma, and YouTube, making information easily accessible and organized in one place.

The platform also supports concurrent editing by up to 100 users in a single document, with features like tagging, progress tracking, and advanced search capabilities to optimize team collaboration and keep everyone aligned.

Availability and Access

Zoom Docs with AI Companion is included with all paid Zoom Workplace plans. Basic (free) users can create up to 10 shared docs and unlimited personal docs without AI Companion but can upgrade to access the full range of AI Companion capabilities. Zoom Docs is available starting today for users of the Zoom Workplace app, version 6.1.6 or later, and can also be accessed via the Docs web homepage or the Zoom Web App.
