Canon has launched the EOS R5 Mark II, an advanced full-frame mirrorless camera that raises the bar with cutting-edge features and enhancements. Equipped with a new 45-megapixel back-illuminated (BSI) stacked CMOS sensor and an Accelerated Capture image processor system, the EOS R5 Mark II promises exceptional performance for photographers and videographers alike.
“For content creators who dare to dream the impossible, we have the perfect tool for them, the EOS R5 Mark II. With this camera, they now possess the ability to turn their imagination into reality. The EOS R5 Mark II, with its new upgrades and functions, is truly for the creative visionaries of tomorrow,” said David Yeo, Senior Marketing Manager of Consumer Business, Singapore Operations, Canon Singapore.
Unmatched Performance and Advanced AF Capabilities
The EOS R5 Mark II introduces a host of upgrades, starting with the new 45-megapixel BSI stacked CMOS sensor. The Accelerated Capture System, featuring the DIGIC Accelerator and DIGIC X image processor, allows for processing high volumes of data at unprecedented speeds, setting new standards for autofocus (AF) performance.
The camera’s Dual Pixel Intelligent AF system, leveraging deep learning and the Accelerated Capture system, enhances subject detection and tracking. This advanced system ensures accurate tracking even in challenging scenarios, such as when subjects cross paths or block the main subject.
Videographers will appreciate the Register People Priority function, which prioritises a preregistered person for subject detection and tracking in crowded scenes. The new Action Priority AF mode is particularly beneficial for sports photographers, automatically switching the focus to subjects in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
For the first time in a “5 series” camera, the EOS R5 Mark II features Eye Control AF, allowing users to shift the AF frame by simply looking at their new subject. The improved line-of-sight detection algorithm offers faster and steadier eye movement detection.

Cinema-Grade Video Capabilities
The EOS R5 Mark II supports internal 8K DCI 60p RAW video recording, along with various industry-standard recording modes. It also includes several Cinema EOS features for professional filmmaking. Users can simultaneously record smaller proxy files for efficient editing and utilise features such as 4K 120p for high-quality slow-motion scenes.
The camera’s new 4K DCI 60p SRAW recording option provides a less resource-intensive alternative for projects requiring the latitude of RAW video. The inclusion of 10-bit Canon Log 2 offers a wider dynamic range and better shadow detail preservation, expanding post-production possibilities.
Designed to withstand demanding shoots, the EOS R5 Mark II features robust weather sealing. It also supports the latest wireless and wired communication protocols, including Wi-Fi 6/6E and 2.5G Base-T wired LAN, ensuring high-speed transmission of large files for news reporting and editorial work.
