foodpanda, a leading food and grocery delivery network in Asia, has introduced a new feature called ‘Meal For One’—curated set menus designed specifically for solo diners at more affordable prices. This new offering allows customers to order single-person meals on the foodpanda app without a minimum order value and enjoy lower delivery fees, making it easier and more affordable to order food for one. Currently available in seven markets with nearly 20,000 restaurants offering Meal For One options, this feature will be rolled out across the region in the coming months.
A Solution for Urban Living
“More people in Asia are moving to urban areas and living alone for work. Meal For One is perfect for these solo diners, allowing them to order exactly what they need, without a minimum delivery order value,” said Luc Andreani, Chief Operating Officer at foodpanda. “It also caters to their busy lifestyles via curated and affordable set menus, reducing choice overload often experienced when browsing on food delivery apps.”
Meeting the Growing Demand
Single-person households expanded by 31% globally from 2010 to 2019, making it the fastest-growing household type, with nearly half of this growth occurring in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. This upward trend is expected to continue until 2040, increasing the demand for single-person food deliveries. To address this, foodpanda is offering more value-for-money options for smaller orders. Customers placing Meal For One orders can expect to save at least 10% compared to regular meal pricing, thanks to cheaper delivery fees and no minimum spending requirement.
The order process has been streamlined for minimum fuss and maximum convenience. Customers can access the Meal For One menu through a dedicated category on the app homepage, ensuring they can quickly find their desired items. Additionally, they can easily customize their drinks and sides with simple add-ons, reducing choice paralysis and simplifying meal decisions.
