NETS to Provide Complimentary Motoring Card to All Vehicle Owners with On-Board Units

Singapore – Network for Electronic Transfers (NETS), Singapore’s leading payment services group, announced today that it will offer a complimentary NETS Motoring Card to every vehicle owner installing an On-Board Unit (OBU). This initiative is expected to benefit up to 1 million motorists.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will manage the distribution of the NETS Motoring Card to motorists with OBUs installed in both new and existing vehicles. The distribution schedule is as follows:

  • Motorists who installed their OBU before 1 May 2024 will receive their card by post starting from mid-June 2024.
  • Those who install their OBU between 1 May and 30 June 2024 will receive their card by post within five weeks of installation.
  • Motorists installing the OBU from 1 July 2024 onwards will receive their card at the point of installation.

For any queries, the public can contact the LTA Call Assist Service at 6377 2255.

Features and Benefits of the NETS Motoring Card

The NETS Motoring Card is a stored value card compatible with the new vehicle OBU. It facilitates the payment of Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) charges and is the only card accepted at all car parks in Singapore. In car parks that have not upgraded to a full Electronic Parking System, motorists can use the card for entry and exit by tapping and holding it without removing it from the processing unit.

Motorists can top up their NETS Motoring Card using the NETS App, which allows for convenient top-ups anytime and anywhere. Additionally, the card can be topped up manually at over 3,800 NETS top-up machines, NETS Customer Service Centre, local bank ATMs, and convenience stores across the island.

Encouragement to Register for Auto Top-Up

Motorists are encouraged to register for the NETS Auto Top-Up service, which automatically tops up the card with a preset amount when the balance is low. This feature reduces the risk of insufficient funds and eliminates the need to manually top up the card.

Additionally, motorists can complement their NETS Motoring Card with vCashCard, a cardless ERP payment service that ensures ERP payments are not missed even when there are insufficient funds on the NETS Motoring Card.

This initiative by NETS aims to enhance convenience and efficiency for motorists, supporting seamless transactions and reducing the need for manual top-ups, ultimately contributing to a smoother driving experience in Singapore.
