Singapore – The fourth edition of Asia Tech x Singapore (ATxSG) 2024 commenced today with the unveiling of Singapore’s Digital Enterprise Blueprint (DEB) by Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information, Mr. Tan Kiat How. The DEB is designed to accelerate digital transformation and empower Singaporean enterprises through emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Driving Enterprise Digitalisation
The DEB marks a significant step in Singapore’s enterprise digitalisation journey, aiming to create an environment conducive to experimentation, encouraging SMEs to leverage technology, and enhancing digital resilience and cybersecurity. The initiative is expected to benefit 50,000 SMEs over the next five years, focusing on:
- Adopting AI-enabled solutions for smarter operations.
- Scaling faster with cloud-based and integrated solutions.
- Improving cyber resilience.
- Upskilling workers to fully utilize digital capabilities.

Partnerships and Initiatives
Seven partners, including Singapore Business Federation (SBF), Singapore Computer Society (SCS), SGTech, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google, Microsoft, and Salesforce, have pledged their commitment to the DEB. The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) will refresh Industry Digital Plans (IDPs) to incorporate AI-enabled solutions, benefiting 15,000 SMEs under the SMEs Go Digital program in the next two years.
Launch of SGTech Apprenticeship Programme
SGTech, in collaboration with IMDA and the TechSkills Accelerator (TeSA), introduced the Tech Apprenticeship Programme (TAP). This initiative aims to expand career pathways for graduates through industry apprenticeships, targeting the placement of at least 300 apprentices over the next two and a half years.
Advancing AI Capabilities
IMDA and the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) signed an MoU to enhance the legal sector’s productivity through GenAI. They will co-develop GPT-Legal, a large language model contextualized for Singapore’s legal sector. This model will be integrated into LawNet, providing automated summaries of unreported judgments.
AI Accelerator Collaboration
Tribe and Digital Industry Singapore (DISG) announced a collaboration with NVIDIA to launch the Ignition AI Accelerator. This program will support 15 high-potential AI startups, offering business and technical guidance. Selected startups will also receive funding support through the Startup SG Tech scheme and assistance with IMDA Accreditation.
Shaping Global AI Governance
Singapore hosted the final meeting of the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General’s Artificial Intelligence Advisory Body (AIAB) from 28-29 May. The meeting facilitated discussions on AI governance with the Digital Forum of Small States (Digital FOSS), contributing to the Global Digital Compact expected to be finalized in late 2024.
