The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has appointed 22 Singaporeans from 20 companies as the 2024 Singapore (SG) Digital Leaders, marking a significant step in cultivating local talent for the digital economy. This cohort includes founders of high-growth tech startups, leaders in major corporations, and innovators in fields ranging from Artificial Intelligence (AI) to quantum technology.
The official appointment took place at a luncheon on May 20 at the Pan Pacific Singapore, hosted by Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Communications and Information, Mr. Tan Kiat How. The SG Digital Leaders programme, according to SMS Tan, brings together a diverse group of tech leaders across various industries, driving digital transformation within their respective domains.
SMS Tan added: “The programme will support the growth of these leaders, thus strengthening Singapore’s position as a leading hub for innovation and technology. I hope they go on to inspire future tech leaders to step up to join this expanding tech leaders community.”
IMDA’s initiative, in collaboration with the private sector, aims to identify local tech professionals capable of taking on senior leadership roles within their organizations. This year is particularly notable for the programme as it sees the highest number of female leaders being recognized, highlighting Singapore’s commitment to fostering gender diversity in the tech sector.
Among the eight female tech leaders honored are Ms Michelle Tee, the first and youngest female leader heading a Foreign Exchange Operations and Technology subdivision at Citi Singapore, and Ms Dorothy Yiu, Co-Founder and CEO of EngageRocket Pte Ltd, the first venture-backed people analytics software company in Asia.
The list of 2024 SG Digital Leaders includes notable figures such as:
- Mr Lin Zhi Hao, Director of Investment (AI) at Temasek International Pte Ltd, known for his expertise in AI and Big Data. He has played a crucial role in technical due diligence on investment opportunities and was one of four Singaporeans selected for the British Chevening Scholarship in 2010.
- Mr Mohamed Shadiq Bin Shawall Hamid, Technology Director & Associate General Manager at Changi Airport Group. He has been integral to CAG’s digital journey, leading the development of technical capabilities and teams, particularly in the eCommerce domain.
