Google has announced the release of its latest smartphone, the Pixel 8a, powered by the new Google Tensor G3 chip. Priced at S$799, the Pixel 8a brings many of the same advanced AI features found in the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, such as Gemini, Best Take, and Audio Magic Eraser. Designed to capture stunning photos, save time, and keep user information secure, the Pixel 8a is touted as offering unbeatable value.

Refined Design and Vibrant Colors

The Pixel 8a features a refreshed design with rounded edges, a matte back, and an aluminum frame. Its durable construction is designed to withstand slips, spills, and dust, making it the most resilient A-Series phone yet. The new Actua display is 40% brighter than the Pixel 7a’s, and the 120Hz refresh rate ensures smooth scrolling. The Pixel 8a comes in two new colors, Aloe (a limited edition) and Bay, as well as the classic options of Obsidian and Porcelain. Additionally, a larger storage capacity of 256 GB is now available.

The Pixel 8a boasts a dual rear camera system with a 64-megapixel main lens and a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens. It also includes a 13-megapixel front-facing camera with a wide field of view. Leveraging the power of the Google Tensor G3, the phone is packed with AI-driven tools to enhance photos and videos. Best Take allows users to select the best expressions in group photos, while Magic Editor helps reposition and resize subjects or enhance backgrounds. Audio Magic Eraser removes unwanted sounds from videos for clearer audio. AI-Powered Assistance

The Pixel 8a includes Google’s Gemini AI assistant, which helps users with tasks such as brainstorming, writing notes, and planning vacations. Gemini can summarize emails and sift through inboxes with the help of extensions. The Circle to Search feature enables quick searches by circling, scribbling, or tapping on an image, text, or video. AI-powered Pixel Call Assist features like Call Screen, Direct My Call, Hold for Me, and Clear Calling are also included. New to the Pixel 8a is Audio Emoji, allowing users to add audio reactions and visual effects to their phone calls.

Family-Friendly and Secure

Setting up the Pixel 8a for children has been made easier, with improved setup processes and Family Link to manage privacy settings, screen time limits, and location sharing. The Pixel 8a features the latest Google Tensor G3 chip and the Titan M2 security chip, providing robust protection against threats. It will receive seven years of software support, including security updates and Android OS upgrades, ensuring long-term security and access to new features.
