Motorist Launches Innovative On-Board Unit Feature for Enhanced Vehicle Management in Singapore

Motorist, Singapore’s leading vehicle management platform, has unveiled a new feature that promises to revolutionize how drivers interact with the city-state’s Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) system. Approved by the Land Transport Authority (LTA), this feature allows Singapore-registered vehicle owners to access ERP and other road-use information directly through the Motorist mobile app, without the need for the standard on-board unit (OBU) display.

This innovative approach, which integrates seamlessly via Bluetooth with both new and existing vehicles, aligns with the nationwide rollout of OBU systems starting May 1, 2024. The app not only displays ERP transactions but also provides real-time alerts for traffic conditions, speed cameras, and bus lane timings, thereby enhancing driving efficiency and compliance.

“As we continue to actively enhance this functionality, more OBU and ERP-related information will be made available on the app in future updates,” says Jake Ler, Chief Marketing Officer of Motorist

“Our working partnership with LTA underscores Motorist’s broader mission to become a one-stop hub for everything to do with vehicles, and we hope to continue delivering more seamless automotive experiences to the Singapore public.”

The Motorist app, which is free to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, supports over 965,000 vehicle owners and 2,500 automotive partners. Since its launch in 2019, it has facilitated transactions worth S$2 billion across various automotive services, including vehicle sales, maintenance, and insurance.
