Cohesity, an AI-powered data security and management, unveiled its latest innovation, Cohesity Gaia, marking a significant leap in enterprise data management. Slated for release on 15 March 2024, Cohesity Gaia introduces an AI-powered enterprise search assistant designed to transform how businesses access and analyze backup data within Cohesity environments. This pioneering tool integrates retrieval augmented generation (RAG) AI and large language models (LLMs), enabling conversational AI interactions for comprehensive data insights.
Leveraging the Cohesity Data Cloud, Gaia empowers organizations to transform data into actionable knowledge, facilitating accelerated achievement of business objectives while ensuring data security and compliance. The integration with major public cloud providers aims to extend these AI capabilities further, enhancing Cohesity Gaia’s accessibility and utility.
Cohesity Gaia’s architecture is designed for performance, scalability, and extensibility. It offers RAG AI conversational search across cloud and hybrid environments, creating AI-ready indexes for rapid search responses. Initially supporting Microsoft 365 and OneDrive, it plans to expand to additional data workloads. This system ensures real-time data access for analysis and decision-making without the need for data reconstruction, enhancing efficiency and security through granular, role-based access controls and zero-trust principles.
The challenges of utilizing LLMs in enterprise settings are well-documented, including increased data replication, security risks, and resource demands. Cohesity Gaia addresses these challenges by integrating AI within the backup environment, streamlining data analysis and insight generation across various use cases, such as cyber resilience assessment, financial and compliance audits, legal inquiries, and employee training.
“Enterprises are excited to harness the power of generative AI but have faced several challenges gaining insights into secondary data, including backup, archived and vaulted data – because every approach requires re-hydrating the data, and painfully waiting weeks for the data to be available for analytics and insights. Cohesity Gaia dramatically simplifies this process with our patent-pending approach using Retrieval Augmented Generation,” said Sanjay Poonen, CEO and President, Cohesity. “With Cohesity Gaia, for the first time in our industry, companies will be able to leverage generative AI to query their data in a virtually seamless way. Our approach delivers rapid, insightful results without the drawbacks of more manual and risky approaches. In short, it turns data into knowledge within seconds and minutes.”
