TACNIQ, a Singaporean startup specializing in advanced tactile sensor technology, has unveiled a groundbreaking solution to address the growing problem of poor posture among working adults. The company’s latest innovation, Kuushy, is a smart cushion featuring an AI-enabled Posture Coach designed to encourage healthier sitting habits and ultimately promote a more active and pain-free lifestyle.
A Rising Concern
Poor posture can lead to a range of health issues, including neck and back pain, and in some cases, even heartburn and constipation. Recent times, marked by widespread remote work arrangements during the pandemic, have exacerbated the problem. In Singapore, approximately eight out of ten working adults experience lower back pain, with sedentary-related musculoskeletal conditions on the rise.
Kuushy’s Solution
Kuushy aims to combat these posture-related problems with its real-time posture monitoring and personalized posture correction coaching. Leveraging TACNIQ’s tactile sensor technology and AI pattern recognition, this intelligent seat cushion discreetly tracks and recognizes seven common sitting postures. It provides gentle reminders to users to adjust their posture and offers personalized stretches based on individual habits.
Three Steps to Better Back Health:
- Intervene: Sensors detect and analyze the user’s posture in real-time, sending timely reminders via app notifications for posture correction.
- Motivate: Kuushy’s app tracks user progress and establishes personal goals to motivate users to maintain good posture practices.
- Train: Based on historical sitting information, personalized stretching exercises are recommended.
Easy Integration
To use Kuushy, users simply place the smart cushion on their seat and pair it with the Kuushy app on their smartphone. Embedded sensors automatically send pressure information to the paired device, which employs an AI algorithm to evaluate the sitter’s posture. Users receive gentle reminders and recommendations to maintain healthy sitting habits. The app encourages users to adopt better habits over time, showcasing hours of good posture achieved in weeks and months. Kuushy also prompts users to perform stretches and exercises tailored to their sitting habits.
Future Integration
Kuushy has plans to integrate with healthcare tracking apps, providing users with a seamless and comprehensive healthcare experience.
Convenience and Longevity
The cushion operates for an entire week on a full charge and can be conveniently recharged via a USB charger using the USB C port.
Aashish Mehta, CEO of TACNIQ, expressed the company’s vision, stating, “Kuushy allows working adults to improve health habits without making major changes to our lifestyle, by turning work hours into ‘back health hours.’ This, in turn, enables us to maintain an active lifestyle and cultivate good health habits in the long term.”
Kuushy is now available on Kickstarter, with pledge amounts for rewards starting at US$99, offering a 55% discount off retail prices. The project is open for backing until September 27, 2023.
