Apple has announced the launch of its latest innovation, Apple Vision Pro, a groundbreaking spatial computer that seamlessly merges digital content with the physical world, while ensuring users remain connected to others. Vision Pro introduces a fully three-dimensional user interface controlled by natural inputs such as the user’s eyes, hands, and voice. With its visionOS, the world’s first spatial operating system, Vision Pro allows users to interact with digital content as if it were physically present in their space. The device features an ultra-high-resolution display system with 23 million pixels across two displays and custom Apple silicon in a unique dual-chip design, delivering real-time experiences.

Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, described Vision Pro as the start of a new era for computing, comparable to the impact of the Mac and iPhone. Built on years of Apple innovation, Vision Pro boasts a revolutionary input system and numerous groundbreaking features that offer incredible experiences for users and exciting opportunities for developers.

Apple Vision Pro opens up new dimensions in personal computing, transforming the way users engage with their favorite apps, capture and relive memories, enjoy entertainment, and connect with others via FaceTime. Its visionOS provides a three-dimensional interface that liberates apps from the constraints of a traditional display, enabling them to appear side by side at any scale. The device empowers users with infinite screen real estate and novel multitasking options. It also supports the Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad, allowing users to set up a perfect workspace or wirelessly bring the capabilities of their Mac into Vision Pro, effectively creating a portable 4K display with crystal-clear text.

When it comes to entertainment, Apple Vision Pro immerses users in captivating experiences. With its dual ultra-high-resolution displays, any space can be transformed into a personal movie theater, delivering a screen that feels 100 feet wide accompanied by an advanced Spatial Audio system. Users can enjoy movies, TV shows, and stunning three-dimensional films. Apple Immersive Video offers 180-degree high-resolution recordings with Spatial Audio, while the device supports over 100 Apple Arcade games with immersive audio and compatibility with popular game controllers.

One of the standout features of Vision Pro is its ability to create immersive environments. Through the Environments feature, users can expand their world beyond the physical boundaries of a room by immersing themselves in dynamic and beautiful landscapes, either to enhance focus or reduce clutter. With a simple twist of the Digital Crown, users can control the level of immersion in their chosen environment.

Apple Vision Pro also revolutionizes the way users capture and relive memories. Equipped with Apple’s first three-dimensional camera, the device allows users to capture photos and videos that transport them back to special moments with Spatial Audio. Whether it’s a gathering with friends or a family celebration, every spatial photo and video immerses users in the experience, presenting them with life-sized images and videos in brilliant detail. Users can access their entire photo library on iCloud and view their memories at a scale that makes them feel as if they were present when the image was taken. Additionally, FaceTime calls become more immersive with Vision Pro, as participants are reflected in life-size tiles and enjoy Spatial Audio, making it feel as if they are speaking from their actual positions. Users wearing Vision Pro during a FaceTime call are represented as a digital persona that mirrors their face and hand movements in real time, allowing for shared activities like watching movies, browsing photos, or collaborating on presentations.

The device also offers an extensive range of app experiences through its all-new App Store. Users can discover apps and content from developers, accessing a vast catalog of familiar iPhone and iPad apps that automatically work with the new input system for Vision Pro. Developers are encouraged to leverage the powerful capabilities of Vision Pro and visionOS to create entirely new app experiences and reimagine existing ones for spatial computing.

VisionOS, Apple’s revolutionary operating system, has been meticulously designed to support the low-latency demands of spatial computing. It presents digital content in a manner that feels physically present, adjusting dynamically to natural light and casting shadows to provide users with a sense of scale and distance. Vision Pro introduces a new input system that allows users to navigate and interact with spatial content effortlessly. By simply looking at apps, tapping fingers to select, flicking wrists to scroll, or using voice commands, users can engage with the device seamlessly.

EyeSight, an extraordinary innovation within Vision Pro, enables users to maintain connections with others. When someone wearing Vision Pro approaches another person, the device becomes transparent, allowing both users to maintain eye contact while the device displays the user’s eyes. EyeSight provides visual cues to others about the user’s focus, ensuring a more engaging and intuitive social experience.

The design of Apple Vision Pro builds upon Apple’s expertise in creating high-performance products like Mac, iPhone, and Apple Watch. The device features a compact design with an exceptional amount of technology. A single piece of three-dimensionally formed and laminated glass serves as an optical surface, acting as a lens for the various cameras and sensors needed to blend the physical and digital worlds. The glass seamlessly merges into a custom aluminum alloy frame that gently curves around the user’s face. The device’s modular system allows for a tailored fit to accommodate a wide range of people. A soft textile Light Seal, available in various shapes and sizes, flexes to conform to the user’s face, ensuring a precise fit. Flexible straps keep audio close to the user’s ears, while a three-dimensionally knitted Head Band provides cushioning, breathability, and stretch. The band can be easily replaced with a different size or style.

Apple Vision Pro delivers exceptional compute performance in a compact wearable form factor. Its breakthrough ultra-high-resolution display system utilizes micro-OLED technology to pack an impressive 23 million pixels into two postage stamp-sized displays, offering wide color and high dynamic range. The device’s custom catadioptric lenses provide sharpness and clarity, delivering stunning visual experiences. For users with vision correction needs, ZEISS Optical Inserts ensure visual fidelity and eye-tracking accuracy.

Spatial Audio is a core component of the Apple Vision Pro experience, creating an immersive soundscape that matches the user’s environment. The device incorporates two individually amplified drivers in each audio pod, delivering Personalized Spatial Audio based on the user’s head and ear geometry.

The high-performance eye tracking system in Apple Vision Pro utilizes high-speed cameras and a ring of LEDs to project invisible light patterns onto the user’s eyes, enabling responsive and intuitive input.

Privacy and security remain paramount in Apple Vision Pro. The device features Optic ID, a secure authentication system that analyzes a user’s iris under different invisible LED light exposures. The system then compares the data to the enrolled Optic ID data, which is securely stored in the device’s Secure Enclave. Optic ID data is fully encrypted, inaccessible to apps, and never leaves the user’s device. While using Vision Pro, a user’s gaze remains private, and eye-tracking information is not shared with Apple, third-party apps, or websites. Additionally, data from the device’s camera and sensors is processed at the system level, ensuring individual apps do not have access to a user’s surroundings without permission. EyeSight includes a visual indicator that notifies others when a user is capturing a spatial photo or video.

Apple Vision Pro will be available starting at $3,499 in early next year on apple.com and select Apple Store locations in the U.S., with availability expanding to more countries later in the year. Customers will have the opportunity to learn about, experience, and personalize their fit for Vision Pro at Apple Store locations.
