Philippines-based consumer finance app, BillEase, and in-app commerce platform, ChatGenie, have joined forces in a partnership aimed at providing innovative payment solutions to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). The collaboration between the two companies aims to empower both consumers and merchants with convenient and accessible payment options.
Through the partnership, retailers can offer shoppers three cardless installment options during checkout: Pay Later in 10 or 20 days, Pay in 4 installments for small-to-medium ticket purchases, and Pay Monthly over three, six, nine, or 12 months for big purchases, with interest rates as low as 0% or 3.49%.
Ragde Falcis, ChatGenie’s CEO, expressed excitement at the partnership, saying, “We are committed to providing our retailers with opportunities by maximizing the world’s biggest apps; this collaboration is a testament to that commitment.”
Meanwhile, Georg Steiger, CEO and Co-Founder of BillEase, stated that the partnership is a significant step towards achieving their mission to provide accessible and convenient financial services to both retailers and consumers. “By offering our BNPL service through ChatGenie’s innovative platform, we are providing a frictionless payment option that aligns with this shift toward digital transactions,” he said.
This partnership aims to provide MSMEs with new payment solutions that cater to the changing needs of consumers. With BNPL payments in the Philippines expected to grow by 22.5% annually to reach USD 1.9 billion in 2023, BillEase and ChatGenie are set to revolutionize the payment landscape in the country, empowering MSMEs with innovative payment options.
ChatGenie, established in 2020, specializes in e-commerce and retail services, with an end-to-end approach that enables businesses to create virtual storefronts on major platforms like Facebook Messenger, Viber, and GCash. The company’s multichannel In-App Commerce platform facilitates direct messaging, integrated online payment, and automated delivery services to millions of customers, all without leaving the app’s messaging thread.
BillEase, which was launched in 2017, is a versatile finance app that provides various financial services, including personal loans, prepaid load, gaming credits, and bills payment. It also features a buy now, pay later (BNPL) service that enables customers to access installment plans even without a debit or credit card.
