Sony has announced the ZV-E1, an interchangeable-lens vlog camera with a 35mm full-frame image sensor. Positioned at the top of Sony’s Vlog camera line-up, the ZV-E1 offers cinematic imagery with rich gradation performance, low noise, and high sensitivity. It is the world’s most compact, lightweight full-frame interchangeable lens vlog camera, providing outstanding mobility with maximum creative freedom and versatility.

The ZV-E1 features a 35mm full-frame back-illuminated CMOS Exmor R sensor with approximately 12.1 effective megapixels, delivering high sensitivity, low noise, and gorgeous bokeh. The BIONZ XR image processing engine offers up to eight times more processing power than previous types, markedly boosting high-sensitivity performance, gradation rendering, color reproduction, and low-noise performance.

The ZV-E1 allows users to shoot 4K 60p and can upgrade up to 4K 120p through the Creators’ Cloud with smooth 5x (max.) slow-motion imagery. The standard ISO range extends from 80 to 102400 for both stills and movies. The expanded range for stills is 40 to 409600, and the expanded range for movies is 80 to 409600. With 15+ stops of latitude, users can capture natural-looking images in a wide variety of lighting situations without losing highlight or shadow detail.

The camera has a cinematic vlog setting that offers an intuitive way to create scenes that look like feature movies. It includes looks that deliver natural mid-tones, soft colors, and smooth highlights that enhance skin tones, and moods that emphasize specific colors. The AF transition speed determines how quickly autofocus will switch between subjects. The ZV-E1 features S-Cinetone, delivering natural mid-tones essential to healthy-looking skin color to deliver cinematic quality.

Real-time Recognition AF uses an innovative AI processing unit that recognizes movement and human posture with high precision. The AI processing unit can even differentiate between multiple subjects having different postures, and recognition of individual faces has been improved, allowing for accurate tracking.

The ZV-E1 comes with a selection of new creative looks for stills and video. Ten creative looks are provided as presets that can be used as they are or customized. My Image Style makes it possible to shoot in the Intelligent Auto or Scene Selection mode, with icons on the touch-sensitive monitor to directly adjust background bokeh, brightness, and color tone, as well as select a creative look.

Designed with sustainability in mind, the ZV-E1 has easy, stable smartphone connectivity and is available for purchase in May 2023.
