Global Switch, a leading data centre operator in Europe and Asia-Pacific, has recently partnered with Legion of Racers, a Singapore-based lifestyle and entertainment brand offering SIM Racing and e-sports. The collaboration was aimed at bringing marginalised communities closer to society and empowering under-resourced youth.
Around 70 children and youth from under-resourced communities across Singapore attended the Drive for Good event, held earlier this week. Beneficiaries from three charities attended the event: Muslimin Trust Fund Association (MTFA), Darul Ihsan Orphanages, and SHINE Children and Youth Services.
The event was themed “Empowering Youth, Connecting Communities” and included engaging educational activities throughout the day, such as SIM Racing time trials, talks from Drive for Good Ambassadors, and a sports leadership workshop. The event was also supported by Community Chest, an organisation that provides opportunities for everyone to live a life of dignity.
Matthew Kong, Managing Director of Global Switch in Singapore, expressed his delight at partnering with Legion of Racers for the event. He said, “The event marks an important step in Global Switch’s continued investment into supporting the lives of the local communities in which we operate.”
Lim Keong Wee, Co-Founder of Legion of Racers, echoed this sentiment and said, “Drive for Good is our way of providing marginalised and under-resourced youth relevant social skills, knowledge and experiences to develop and succeed in life.”
Dr Abdul Qader Al-aidaroos, Executive Director of MTFA, thanked Global Switch and Legion of Racers for allowing their residents to participate in the event. He said, “We hope that through this event, more corporations will follow the lead of Global Switch and Legion of Racers and continue to support us in the therapeutic work that we do in caring and protecting our residents.”
