Mercedes-AMG has announced a new model cycle for its compact SUVs, featuring several upgrades and expanded standard features. Among the standout changes are the newly designed front apron with the AMG logo, LED technology now standard for the lighting package, and painted wheel arch extensions in the same color as the vehicle.

But it’s under the hood where the most significant upgrade comes in the form of an electrified AMG engine. The GLA 35 4MATIC and GLB 35 4MATIC now feature a belt-driven starter generator (RSG) and an additional 48-volt on-board power supply as standard. The second-generation RSG functions as a mild hybrid, providing a temporary power boost of 10 kW (14 PS) and permitting functions like coasting and recuperation for greater efficiency. The 48-volt technology also improves comfort, with barely noticeable transitions of the start/stop and coasting function. The agile, high-torque 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine produces 225 kW (306 hp) and is distributed to all four wheels via the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 8G transmission and the AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive.

The interior of the upgraded SUVs also sees enhancements with the latest MBUX generation and the latest AMG Performance steering wheel as standard. The MBUX infotainment system boasts an AMG-specific screen design, expanded functions, and mini-games that help fill in the waiting time while parking. Additionally, Apple Car Play and Android Auto can now be connected wirelessly to the vehicle, and connectivity has been improved with higher USB charging performance and an additional USB-C port.

Several driver assistance systems are also included, such as Active Lane Keeping Assist and the next generation of the Parking Package, which supports parallel parking and offers 360° visualization in camera-assisted parking using 3D images.

New options are available for all models, including light-alloy wheels, protective covers for the sports seats, and AMG performance seats. The combination of ARTICO man-made leather and MICROCUT microfiber can now be ordered in bahia brown, and the latest color for ARTICO man-made leather is sage grey/black.

With these upgrades, the Mercedes-AMG compact SUVs are sure to make a strong visual and performance statement on the road.
