Etiqa Singapore, Singtel Dash and UOB Asset Management launch Dash PET Plus

Etiqa Singapore, Singapore’s leading insurer, together with partners Singtel Dash and UOB Asset Management Ltd (UOBAM), have announced the launch of Dash PET Plus, a single premium investment-linked insurance plan (ILP) to expand personal protection solutions for Dash customers. With this ILP, Dash PET levels up as an all-in-one solution addressing savings, protection and investment needs.

This means consumers can now invest and protect with lower, entry-level premiums with the ability to top up and withdraw funds in the ILP at any time and in smaller amounts as compared to traditional ILPs. As a result, Dash PET Plus will be more accessible to young working adults or those new to investing, with premiums as low as S$1,000. Customers are empowered to build and diversify their investment portfolio, supporting PMEBs[1]looking to invest while protecting themselves from life’s unexpected events.

Protecting Joys of Longer Life Expectancy

According to Etiqa’s protection study from July 2021, millennials are the new “sandwich generation”, with 48% and 22% respectively regarding funding the expenses of ageing parents and funding children’s education as a significant source of financial worry. Additionally, almost one in two are concerned about losing their ability to work due to critical illness and subsequently losing their income, inevitably linked to the fear that one’s loved ones would be rendered helpless without support.

“Young adults today have specific concerns about the affordability of ageing and yet are unsure how to begin addressing them. We designed Dash PET Plus to provide them with an avenue to invest flexibly, while protecting themselves for future quality of life as early and as easily as possible. DASH Pet Plus serves as an affordable entry point for investment and protection through a simple, seamless experience that helps young adults achieve their financial goals,” said Dennis Liu, Chief Digital & Transformation Officer, Etiqa Singapore.

Making financial solutions more accessible and meaningful

Singtel Dash, one of Singapore’s largest non-banking mobile wallets, makes it simple and easy for customers from all demographics to grow and manage their money, from payments and remittance to savings, investments and insurance all on one app.

“Dash PET Plus exemplifies our commitment to providing Dash users with an accessible and robust range of financial solutions. Given the strong uptake and interest for the Dash PET insurance savings plan and UOBAM Robo Invest launched last December, we have brought the two together to deliver this new option that addresses even more of our customers’ needs. With ecosystem partners like Etiqa and UOBAM, we will continue innovating for the 1.3 million customers that depend on us for day-to-day transactions as well as their longer-term financial needs,” said Gilbert Chuah, Head of Financial and Lifestyle Services, Consumer Singapore, Singtel.

“Many young adults are looking for simple ways to start investing. By working with Singtel Dash and Etiqa Singapore on Dash PET Plus, UOBAM is extending our 36 years of professional investment expertise and well-established fund solutions to help more young investors build and grow their wealth. With just a few clicks, these investors can start their journey towards achieving their financial goals,” said Faizal Gaffoor, Group Chief Marketing Officer, UOBAM.

The Dash PET Plus comprises of the United SGD Money Market Fund and United Singapore Bond Fund offered by UOBAM. The United SGD Money Market Fund invests in highly liquid short-term investments, while the United Singapore Bond Fund focuses on Singapore bonds. Investors can choose to auto-reinvest dividends from Dash PET Plus or to receive dividend payouts based on their preferences for short- or longer-term returns.
