Yubico Ramps up Asia Pacific Presence with the Appointment of Geoff Schomburgk as Regional Vice President

Yubico, the leading provider of hardware authentication security keys, has announced it has expanded its presence in Asia Pacific by appointing a Regional Vice President to drive strategic growth initiatives, recruit and manage local sales teams and further strengthen its distribution channels across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. Having been in the role of Vice President for Australia and New Zealand since February 2020, Geoff Schomburgk has now been appointed as the Vice President for the entire Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region and will continue to head up Yubico’s Australia and New Zealand operations.

Melbourne based Schomburgk will help to spearhead the company’s continuing growth in the region off the back of the recent launch of its first biometric security key, the YubiKey Bio, which features a fingerprint reader for secure passwordless logins, to complement its existing range of industry-leading multi-factor security keys.

“It’s an exciting time to be on the front lines of today’s cybersecurity landscape, where organisational leaders are realising that to achieve a higher level of security in their business that multi-factor authentication is an absolute must to reduce cybersecurity risk,” said Geoff Schomburgk, Regional Vice President for Asia Pacific and Japan at Yubico. “ I’m looking forward to addressing the evolving security authentication needs that organisations face on a daily basis across this region.”

Geoff brings a strong customer focus and track record of implementing technology solutions across a range of clients and industries, including 20 years at Ericsson in various sales and business development roles. Previously, he’s lived in Malaysia and has worked with customers across the APJ region consistently for the past two decades.

“The vision and capabilities that Yubico brings to today’s complex cybersecurity landscape uniquely positions the company to solve the cybersecurity challenges faced by many organisations. I am looking forward to building our team and our channel partner network, as well as leveraging existing strategic partnerships to enhance Yubico’s go-to-market and growth strategies in the APJ region,” said Schomburgk.

Schomburgk has a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Deakin University in Melbourne and a BE Honours in Bachelor of Engineering from Adelaide University. Geoff is a member and graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Yubico is currently recruiting a sales team in specific Asia Pacific countries, including Singapore and will be appointing additional channel partners in the region in the next twelve to eighteen months to drive its channel first approach.
