realme obtains the TÜV Rheinland High Reliability Certification, setting a new smartphone quality standard for young users

realme debuts its brand mascot “realmeow”, first to bring designer toy into the tech world

realme, the world’s fastest-growing smartphone brand, held the realme x TÜV Rheinland Quality Standards launch event to announce the brand’s latest smartphone quality standard for young users.

Using insights gathered from realme’s research on young users, realme and TÜV Rheinland jointly created the TÜV Rheinland Smartphone High Reliability Certification.

realme sets higher quality standard with TÜV Rheinland

realme is the first smartphone brand in the world to obtain the TÜV Rheinland High Reliability Certification.

Following years of working with TÜV Rheinland on a reliability certification to bring their quality control procedures to the next level, realme will now be using this set of quality standard procedures to conduct quality control and tests across all of the realme smartphones.

TÜV Rheinland quality certification

The TÜV Rheinland Smartphone High Reliability Certification process encompasses 23 major tests, including ten daily use test scenarios, such as drop, wear, and tear. In total, there are seven extreme environment test scenarios – including extreme temperatures, extreme humidity, voltage fluctuation, button life, static electricity, air pressure; and six component reliability test scenarios.

Smart factory, aiming to be fully automated in the near future

Consistency is one of the key attributes when it comes to making high-quality products, and this is why realme has been investing in smart factory. The brand aims to be fully automated in the near future to improve the efficiency and precision of complex manufacturing processes.

One such automation example is the SMT production line, which is responsible for putting components onto the PCB motherboard. The current automation rate in the smart factory is 87.5%, which exceeds industry standards.

Thanks to the AI automation capability, the current realme AI smart factory can produce 60 million devices every year.

Designed to be high-quality

realme believes that high-quality products start from excellent design thinking, as proven by the brand’s smartphone’s trendsetting design and leap-forward technology.

At the same time, realme designs products with quality as first priority, and ensures their products go through rigorous quality control processes.

Quality Control team has a veto right to reject the inferior quality products

There is a 6-stage smartphone design process on how smartphones are designed, developed, and tested in their factory. This process will have the Quality Control team bring involved in checking of the quality of all products.

Should a product fail to meet the set quality standards, the Quality Control team possesses a veto right to reject said product. Following which, the rejected product will get undergo a process of redesigning, from scratch.

Quality designed for digital natives

Based on young users’ preferences such as travel and outdoor extreme outdoor sports, realme has put their smartphones through different tests in various environmental settings.

For instance, to ensure that their products can withstand accident drops during popular outdoor sports such as skateboarding and parkour, each of the product will go through aggressive drop tests at heights up to 1.8 meters, on different surface materials.

When it comes to travel, realme also simulates extreme temperatures, ranging from negative 40 degrees Celsius to 75 degrees Celsius in an outdoor environmental setting. This is to make sure all realme products can withstand such temperatures and continue functioning.
