Sharp Launches Industry’s First Sound Bar that Supports MPEG-4 AAC 22.2ch Audio Output for 8K Broadcasting

Sharp introduces the industry’s first sound bar that supports 22.2ch audio format of “MPEG-4 AAC” used in 8K broadcasting – the Sharp Audio 8A-C22CX1 Sound Bar Home Theatre System, in Singapore. Equipped with OPSODIS® technology, this Dolby Atmos® compatible sound bar delivers high definition sound in all directions to provide a more immersive home entertainment experience. The 8K broadcasting stereophonic experience is in full glory when the sound bar is used with the Sharp AQUOS 8K AX1X flagship TV models. The Sound Bar has also been awarded the 2021 VGP lifestyle’s gold award and special award and HiVi Grand Prix Home Theater Audio Award.

Fully immerse in Realistic 3D Audio with OPSODIS® Technology

The 8A-C22CX1 is equipped with the stereophonic sound reproduction technology “OPSODIS”, jointly developed by Kashima Construction and the University of Southampton. With this, the 8A-C22CX1 is able to deliver 360-degree stereoscopic sound including front, rear, left, right, top and bottom with just one speaker installed at the front. Not only can it support 8K broadcasting 22.2ch audio signals, but also terrestrial digital broadcasting and 4K broadcasting 2Ch/5.1Ch audio signals, creating 3-dimensional sound with original audio processing.

Detailed Sound Fields, and 7 Preset Sound Modes for the Best Audio Experience

The 8A-C22CX1 has a 3-way speaker configuration with midrange, tweeter, and woofer. Its 6 digital amplifiers drives the speakers independently to reproduce a detailed sound field.

Being compatible with “Dolby Atmos”, the 8A-C22CX1 is able to deliver 3D stereophonic sound, and play back high-resolution sound sources from a USB memory device. It also supports 4K pass-through that outputs the 4K signal input from HDMI to the TV as it is, as well as “Dolby Vision” pass-through.

Users could also easily choose from 7 pre-set sound modes that will best suit their content, so to enjoy optimised sound effects based on each scene. For audio enhancements, users could easily use the “Clear Voice” feature through the remote control.

The 8A-C22CX1 sound bar weighs 4.5 kg, and is sleek with the following dimensions 60mm (H) × 1,200mm (W) × 140mm (D). The subwoofer is 337mm (H) x 261mm (W) x 261mm (D) and weighs approximately 7.2 kg. It can be purchased from any Sharp authorised dealer at S$1,999.
