The GoPro HERO7 series was launched last week, and it has already gone viral thanks to a seal, an octopus and a kayaker.
While testing out the GoPro HERO7 Black, New Zealand kayaker Kyle Mulinder was unexpectedly slapped by an octopus by a seal.
In the video that has now gone viral, Kyle and his friends were out kayaking when he noticed a seal approaching his kayak underwater. While Kyle looked on attentively, the seal rose out of the water and whipped the octopus, which was in its mouth, onto Kyle’s face.
In his Instagram post, Kyle said:
“Wrong place, right time. 😂 Yes I got slapped in the face with an octopus by the seal! I know crazy right. Here’s the story. Last weekend I was out testing the new #GoProHero7 with @kaikourakayaksand my mate @taiyomasuda. After a fun paddle around the peninsula catching waves we spotted a giant male seal fighting an octopus. Before we knew it the fight came to us and well the rest is slap to the face 😂 I’m not sure who got more of a surprise the seal, the octopus or me. Either way the octopus held onto the bottom of kayak for some time before our guide was able to get it off with his paddle then it swam away to fight another day. True story. “
Though it was an unexpected encounter, it is sure to be one of those YOLO experiences he would cherish.
We are also pretty sure that HyperSmooth was turned on to get that sharp and gimbal-like footage.
