Community-based traffic and navigation app, Waze is now available on the Apple CarPlay globally, including Singapore.

The Google subsidiary, bought by Google in 2013, will allow CarPlay users to access features of the navigation app directly from the in-car display.

To access Waze, users only need to download the app onto their CarPlay, and they can start navigating their way.

Connecting their iPhone to a CarPlay supported system via a USB cable or wireless connection, they can “search for destinations, select a preferred route, report of traffic conditions and more.”

The lead of Waze Platform Strategy, Jens Baron said:

“We’re excited to bring the power of the Waze community right into drivers’ car consoles with Apple CarPlay. This enables us to bring to life one of our users’ most requested integrations, giving them the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of the Waze app on the larger Apple CarPlay display.”

Waze is one of the first navigation apps to be integrated into the Apple CarPlay.

It hopes to reduce traffic on the road and make driving safer and more convenient for everyone.

What would you get with Waze on CarPlay:

  • Home and Work Favorites: Easily navigate from one tap to destinations pre-programmed into the app.
  • Organises everything drivers need in one comprehensive viewing screen before they head out, including the ability to easily check alternate routes and adjust sound settings.
  • Reporting: It’s easier than ever to help others on the road with a visual reporting menu.
  • Alerts: Receive visual and audio alerts to stay informed and keep both hands on the wheel.
