October 26 was a special Thursday night for HUAWEI, having cast the spotlight on its Mate 10 smartphones for the first time at the Funan Showsuite in Singapore. We are also amongst the first few countries to range the HUAWEI Mate 10 series, and the first country in the world to launch the HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro.

Comprising three models – the HUAWEI Mate 10, HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro and PORSCHE DESIGN HUAWEI Mate 10 – the “intelligent” mobile phones push the boundaries and excel in speed and functionality, thanks to HUAWEI’s all-new Kirin 970 processor. This new processor is intelligent, adaptive and able to respond to real-world situations instantaneously. Its AI-enabled capabilities provide users with a speedier, futuristic and user-friendly mobile experience.

At the launch, guests were presented with experiential zones to explore and discover the HUAWEI Mate 10 Series’ intelligent camera, experience, power and speed functions. Every zone provided the curious user with promising responses, whether it is unlocking your phone in split-seconds, or taking a snapshot of a breathtaking scene or your most adorable pet pug.

This phone is perfect for anyone, but those enthusiastic about this all-in-one device would most likely be travellers (this phone will capture all your wanderlust memories perfectly), photographers, executives and professionals in SOHO, AV professionals and graphic designers.

Photography – Switching modes before taking pictures of various subjects can at times be a hassle. Why, even the slight blurring of images due to unsteady hands would make you cringe. This is where the HUAWEI Mate 10 Series assures you that these inconveniences can be avoided, thanks to its Leica dual Summilux-H f/1.6 aperture lens camera with a 20MP monochrome sensor and a 12MP colour sensor with Optical Image Stabilisation. The camera is AI-enhanced through Real-Time Scene and Object Recognition, made possible with the expansion of Huawei’s partnership with Leica.

It is able to detect up to 13 different objects and scenes and intelligently optimises picture settings to deliver unbelievable image clarity. We aimed the camera at every single prop, ranging from plant and flowers, to animals and scenic backgrounds, and it so cleverly detected the apt mode and delivered crisp clear shots while preserving the natural vibrancy of the colours.

Translation of Any Signage Anywhere in the World –  “Excuse me, can you tell me how I can get to this place?”

Have you stumbled upon this situation before with tourists from a foreign land, or have you been in their shoes before, fumbling with translations? Well, the built-in Translation app in the Huawei Mate 10 Series provides real-time text translation across a wide range of foreign languages. The best part is that since it is an app, it does not need an Internet connection.

Thanks to AI, all it takes is snapping a picture of any text or signage, and it will be translated in less than 3 seconds.

Phone to PC MultitaskingHave we not encountered a time when we wished we could project videos or presentations from our phone onto our desktop PC, without the interference of incoming calls or messages? Well, with a phone from the Mate 10 Series, you can connect your phone to your PC in a ‘plug-and-play’ fashion with the Easy Projection feature. Phone users will need to purchase their own USB-C-to-HDMI cable or adapter¹, and the rest is as easy as the alphabets.

So how exactly can a user carry out this smooth and seamless PC experience? Plug in your Mate 10 Series smartphone to the adapter, and connect it to display, keyboard and mouse. This setup is perfect for home, office and professional users who deal with multimedia files. Business meetings will be a breeze with the flashing of Powerpoint presentations, playing of engaging videos and even updating spreadsheets.

And when in the Easy Projection mode, all personal notifications, calls and messages are kept on the smartphone device (these will not be visible to viewers of the desktop projection) to prevent potential embarrassments and distractions.

¹With optional USB-C adapter accessory. Keyboard, mouse and display sold separately.
