ShopBack has partnered with ride-hailing platform TADA to let Singapore riders pay for trips with Cashback they have already earned, marking the first time ShopBack Pay has been built into a ride-hailing app.
Riders who link ShopBack Pay inside the TADA app can use previously earned Cashback to settle part or all of a fare, while earning further Cashback on the same ride, up to S$10 per trip.
Early traction: S$300,000 in ride value, account-linking doubling weekly
In an initial phase running through early October, ahead of this week’s launch campaign, ShopBack said it had already driven S$300,000 in ride value on TADA, with account linking on the app doubling week on week over the same period. On close to one in three ShopBack Pay rides, riders applied Cashback they had already earned against the fare.
ShopBack said demand has settled into two peaks: the morning commute between 8am and 10am, and a late-night window on Friday and Saturday nights.
“Mobility is a natural next category for ShopBack Pay, and TADA was the right partner to open it with. Rides are one of the few things people pay for several times a week, and the rewards a member has built up anywhere on ShopBack can now go straight into them,” said Julian Foo, general manager of financial services at ShopBack.
How it works
Riders add ShopBack Pay as a payment method inside the TADA app and link their ShopBack account, a step needed only once. Cashback already earned can then be applied at checkout, while Cashback earned on the ride itself lands in the ShopBack account to settle future fares or be withdrawn to a bank account or e-wallet. The option is open to all TADA riders in Singapore with an active ShopBack account.
“We believe that creating value for riders goes beyond offering affordable fares. By tapping into ShopBack’s established rewards ecosystem, we’re connecting everyday mobility with practical benefits that help riders get more out of their journeys,” said Nigel Sim, head of TADA Singapore.
ShopBack Pay, which draws on a member’s existing card or payment method rather than replacing it, is now live in Singapore and Hong Kong. TADA, a zero-commission ride-hailing platform founded in Singapore in 2018, also operates in Cambodia, Hong Kong, Thailand and Vietnam.
