Samsung Electronics Singapore and New York-based Reality Defender have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to build an on-device deepfake detection solution for enterprise users in Singapore, as the two firms respond to a rising wave of AI-generated fraud in the city-state.

Announced on the sidelines of GovWare 2026, the partnership will combine Reality Defender’s detection models with Samsung‘s Knox security architecture to flag AI-generated voice, video and images directly on Galaxy devices, reducing the need to send sensitive data to the cloud for analysis.

Deepfake fraud is already hitting Singapore businesses

The urgency behind the partnership is backed by figures. A 2024 survey by Regula found that 56 per cent of businesses in Singapore have faced audio deepfake fraud incidents, while 52 per cent reported experiences with video deepfakes. Separately, victims in Singapore lost at least S$242.9 million to government officials impersonation scams in 2025, accounting for 26.6 per cent of scam losses by amount that year.

“As AI-generated threats become more sophisticated, business leaders are looking for ways to identify risks earlier while protecting sensitive information. Through our partnership with Reality Defender, we aim to develop practical on-device deepfake detection solutions that can flag potential threats before data needs to be processed in the cloud,” Timothy Tan, Director and Head of Integrated Business at Samsung, said.

Built around Samsung Knox

On supported Galaxy devices, Knox Vault provides an isolated environment for sensitive data separate from the main operating system, while Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) creates encrypted storage for individual apps. Reality Defender’s detection layer is designed to work alongside this architecture without enrolling or storing user data.

“Our mission is to protect high-trust systems from AI-generated threats by verifying what is real in real time. For many organisations, the first place a deepfake lands is an employee’s phone. Our partnership with Samsung aims to bring Reality Defender’s detection directly onto Samsung Galaxy devices, working alongside Knox so teams can spot AI-generated impersonation before they act on it,” Ben Colman, Co-Founder and CEO of Reality Defender, said.

Rollout plans

The proposed solution is slated for the Galaxy S26 series and beyond, as well as Galaxy flagship tablets. Samsung showcased its Integrated Business solutions for the government and public sector at GovWare 2026, where the MoU was signed.
