Samsung has launched two USB4 portable SSDs in Singapore, the P9 and the P7. The P9 is on sale now, and the P7 goes on sale on 10 October 2026. Both come in capacities from 1TB to 8TB, with prices starting at S$388.

The P9 is the faster drive, with sequential read speeds of up to 4,000MB/s and write speeds of up to 3,800MB/s. Samsung says that is roughly twice the speed of its previous T9 portable SSD. It also supports 12K direct recording, aimed at creators who capture and edit large RAW images and high-resolution video. Samsung calls it the world’s first 8TB USB4 portable SSD to reach 4,000MB/s, and it won a CES 2026 Innovation Award earlier this year.

P7 portable SSD for everyday use

The P7 also uses USB4 and is meant for desktops, laptops, smartphones, gaming consoles and cameras. Both drives have been tested to survive drops of up to two metres, as well as shock and vibration. Samsung did not publish speed figures for the P7 in its release.

Jacus Long, Director and Head of Brand Memory at Samsung Electronics Singapore, said files across video, photography, gaming and everyday work keep getting larger, and the P Series is built to move and store them more efficiently.

Singapore pricing and availability

The P9 is sold only through the Samsung Online Store. The P7 will be available there and at selected retail partners. Recommended retail prices:
