Singapore-based payment institution FOMO Pay has partnered with identity verification provider Sumsub to strengthen its compliance and fraud defences across Southeast Asia, the Greater Bay Area and the Middle East and North Africa.

FOMO Pay is adding Sumsub’s verification, monitoring and risk tools to its existing technology infrastructure through an API-first platform. They cover identity verification, business and ownership verification, anti-money laundering (AML) screening and transaction monitoring.

Sumsub says its liveness detection can identify up to 99.98 per cent of deepfake attempts in a single scan. Its identity verification supports more than 14,000 document types from over 220 countries and territories.

Deepfake fraud rising in Singapore

Sumsub’s Identity Fraud Report 2025-26 found that multi-step, AI-powered attacks rose 180 per cent year on year globally in 2025. Deepfake incidents rose 158 per cent in Singapore and 147 per cent in Hong Kong over the same period.

By region, the Middle East recorded the fastest fraud growth at 19.8 per cent, followed by Asia Pacific at 16.4 per cent.

Leona Gan, Director of Business Development at FOMO Pay, said the partnership “adds further capabilities to our verification and compliance workflows.” Penny Chai, Vice President, APAC at Sumsub, said the deal reflects growing demand for scalable compliance operations that can adapt to changing regulations and emerging fraud risks.

Founded in 2015, FOMO Pay is licensed in Singapore, Hong Kong and the Middle East. It plans to keep building its infrastructure across global payments, business accounts and digital assets, and to explore wider use of AI and automation.
