Reap, a Hong Kong-headquartered fintech company, has entered a strategic collaboration with Visa to launch stablecoin-linked credit card programmes across more than 100 markets, making Reap the first fintech in Asia to partner with Visa on stablecoin card issuing at this scale.
Powered by Reap’s card-issuing infrastructure, the expanded partnership takes Reap’s existing card programmes beyond Asia and Latin America into EMEA and Africa, enabling fintechs, businesses and platforms to offer stablecoin-funded spending, repayments and cross-border payments in compliance with local regulations.
A fast-growing corner of digital payments
Stablecoin-linked card programmes are among the fastest-growing segments in digital payments, according to Artemis Research, growing at a 106 per cent compound annual growth rate compared with 5 per cent for peer-to-peer payments. Visa says it is seeing a US$20 billion annual run rate of global stablecoin settlement volume, up 15 times year-on-year, across more than 160 stablecoin card programmes worldwide.
“We are excited that Visa is building the stablecoin card category with us in this landmark collaboration from Asia Pacific… Stablecoins opened the door, but the real unlock is the compliant infrastructure pathway that this creates for any company, anywhere in the world, to issue cards and scale through a single partnership,” said Daren Guo, Co-Founder of Reap.
Stephen Karpin, President of Visa Asia Pacific, said the collaboration reflects the momentum building across the payments ecosystem, with Visa “partnering with innovators like Reap to bring trusted and secure payment infrastructure to more markets and use cases”.
Corporate treasury and agentic commerce next
Through Reap’s infrastructure, businesses can fund cards with stablecoins, repay balances in stablecoins, and manage cross-border spend while accepting payments at more than 175 million Visa-accepting merchant locations worldwide. Reap is also a settlement partner for Visa’s stablecoin settlement programme in Asia Pacific, allowing it to settle payment obligations with Visa directly over blockchain rather than through traditional banking hours.
As part of the expanded partnership, Reap and Visa said they will explore new settlement and payment pathways, including agentic commerce capabilities that let AI agents execute authenticated payments within user-defined limits. Reap also plans to introduce multicurrency stablecoin card capability to support a wider range of digital assets.
