PayMongo cuts incident response time with Datadog

Filipino fintech infrastructure provider PayMongo now resolves 75 per cent of incidents before they reach merchants, after consolidating its observability and security tools onto a single platform from Datadog (NASDAQ: DDOG).

The company, which processes billions of dollars in monthly payment volume for tens of thousands of businesses across the Philippines, said its mean time to restore has also dropped from hours to minutes since the rollout.

Scaling reliability alongside rapid growth

PayMongo grew transaction volumes several times over in the past 18 months, and its engineering teams had been working across fragmented monitoring tools with inconsistent security coverage. The company turned to Datadog to bring observability and security onto one platform, giving teams a single view across its full payments flow.

“Every second of downtime means real money lost,” said Jose Dalino, PayMongo’s chief product and technology officer, noting that reliability needed to scale alongside the business without adding operational risk.

Using Datadog’s anomaly detection, SLO-based alerting and synthetic monitoring, PayMongo can now detect when a payment partner goes down in near real time, automatically pause affected payment methods, and notify merchants — reducing abandoned carts and protecting the checkout experience.

Security and observability on one platform

PayMongo also uses Datadog’s Cloud SIEM to correlate security signals from endpoint protection, identity tools and network activity with its application and infrastructure data, giving security and engineering teams a shared view when threats emerge. As AI-generated code becomes a bigger part of its development process, the company is also using Datadog’s Code Security tooling to scan for vulnerabilities before they reach production.

“By unifying observability and security, PayMongo gains the visibility and control needed to scale with confidence,” said Adrian Towsey, Datadog’s vice president of commercial sales for Asia Pacific and Japan.
