Apple has unveiled iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The foldable model will be available in Singapore from 23 October, with pre-orders opening on 16 October.

iPhone Duo opens into a 7.6-inch inner display and closes to a 5.4-inch outer screen, both sharing the same aspect ratio so content scales without distortion. Apple says it is the thinnest iPhone ever made when open. The device runs on the A20 Pro chip, built on a 2-nanometre process technology, paired with a custom vapour chamber and a dual-battery design split across both halves of the body.

“iPhone Duo is the most transformational change to iPhone since the original. With an entirely new design and intuitive experiences, it shows what’s possible when hardware and software are engineered together and redefines what it means to use a foldable phone,” said John Ternus, Apple’s chief executive officer.

Singapore pricing and carrier support

iPhone Duo starts at S$3,099 in Singapore for the 256GB model, rising through 512GB, 1TB and 2TB options. It comes in two colours, star white and night sky. The phone is eSIM-only worldwide, a move Apple says frees up internal space for battery capacity. Locally, the eSIM standard is supported by M1, Singtel and StarHub.

Battery life varies depending on how the device is used: Apple rates it at up to 31 hours of video playback on the inner display, up to 44 hours on the outer display, and up to 24 hours when both are used evenly. Fast charging takes the battery to 50 percent in around 20 minutes on a cable, or 30 minutes wirelessly.

Camera features built around the fold

The foldable design brings a few camera tricks that don’t exist on other iPhones. Smart Take uses on-device AI to automatically capture a photo when it detects subjects are posing, so the person taking the picture doesn’t have to rush into frame. Duo Preview shows a live camera feed on the outer screen so subjects can check their framing before the shot is taken, and Duo FaceTime lets people with the user join a video call from the outer display without everyone crowding around one screen.

iOS 27 has been rebuilt around the dual-screen format, with the Dock, Dynamic Island and navigation controls repositioned to the side to make better use of vertical space. Split View lets two apps run side by side on an iPhone for the first time. Third-party apps including Netflix, Zoom and Slack have already been adapted for the larger inner display.

Apple also refreshed its standard Pro line. iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max introduce a 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture, Apple’s first iPhone camera to offer manual aperture control, along with a redesigned Dynamic Island that can show three Live Activities at once.

Both models run on the same A20 Pro chip as iPhone Duo. The Pro Max is rated for up to 43 hours of video playback, which Apple calls the best battery life yet on a Pro model. In Singapore, iPhone 18 Pro starts at S$1,899 and iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at S$2,099, both in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage options. Pre-orders for the Pro line open on 12 September, with availability from 18 September, just over a month ahead of iPhone Duo.

All three phones ship with iOS 27 and access to Siri AI, Apple’s overhauled assistant built on Apple Intelligence. Siri AI rolls out in beta from 14 September, supporting English including English (Singapore), with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish support following in October.
