ShopeePay has partnered with TenPay Global, Tencent’s cross-border payment platform, to launch cross-border QR payments in China, becoming the first regional partner to enable Weixin Pay QR payments in China for users across multiple Southeast Asian markets.
The service will first be available to users from Singapore and Thailand, before expanding to Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines in subsequent phases. Built on TenPay Global‘s cross-border payment infrastructure and Weixin Pay’s merchant network, it lets Southeast Asian travellers pay at tens of millions of Chinese merchants using the ShopeePay or Shopee apps they already use at home.
First regional partner for Weixin Pay QR access
China has become one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing travel destinations in recent years, supported by stronger air connectivity, more convenient travel policies, and deepening business and cultural exchanges. As travel between the two regions grows, ShopeePay said interoperable QR payments are becoming a key part of travel infrastructure.

Part of a wider cross-border payments network
TenPay Global has partnered with nearly 50 international digital wallets across 13 countries and regions, letting international visitors pay in China via Weixin Pay QR codes using their home wallets, including PayPal in the United States, Hana Pay and Travel Wallet in Korea, BCEL in Laos, and HiPay in Mongolia. ShopeePay’s addition extends that network into Southeast Asia’s largest e-wallet base.
