Tencent Cloud hosted the Hong Kong and Macau Demo Day of its 2026 “AI CAN DO IT” Hackathon, bringing together 10 finalist teams to showcase AI-powered projects spanning social good, cultural expression and narrative innovation.

The competition encouraged participants to use AI tools including CodeBuddy, WorkBuddy and Miora to build games, animation and AI agents. This year’s edition spanned the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and Macau SARs, and Southeast Asia, drawing more than 10,000 creators worldwide and generating over 1,000 project submissions.

“AI is rapidly becoming an essential creative partner for the next generation. Through the ‘AI CAN DO IT’ Hackathon, we hope to provide more young people with opportunities to access and apply advanced AI technologies, transforming ideas rooted in real-world needs and societal challenges into meaningful and impactful solutions,” said Hui Cai, Operations Lead of the Tencent Cloud Hackathon.

Projects tackled autism support, ageing and cultural heritage

Teams in the Social Good category focused on issues such as support for individuals with high-functioning autism and silver-tech solutions for ageing populations. Cultural Expression entries incorporated Chinese cultural elements into digital creations, while Narrative Innovation projects explored interactive games and immersive storytelling experiences.

Winners advance to global finals

Following judging on project concepts, technical implementation and creative outcomes, three teams were named winners and will represent Hong Kong and Macau at the Tencent Cloud Hackathon Global Finals:

Tencent Cloud said the hackathon reflects its broader “Tech for Good” commitment, and that it will continue supporting young developers and creators through educational partnerships, developer programmes and further innovation challenges.
