ASUS Bundles ROG Equalizer Cable with High-End PSUs for GPU Safety

ASUS Republic of Gamers has announced that its Thor III and Strix Platinum power supply units will now ship bundled with the ROG Equalizer, a 12V-2×6 PCIe power cable built for the thermal demands of high-end GPUs.

17-Amp Capacity

Standard 12V-2×6 cables are rated at 9.2 amps per wire. The ROG Equalizer raises that to 17 amps, handling short-term current peaks during extreme overclocking. The patented design uses tin-plated oxygen-free copper and keeps connector temperatures below the 105C material limit. In a 10-day 600W stress test at 55C ambient, the cable held steady around 100C. In comparative wire-imbalance testing, a standard cable hit 146C while the Equalizer held at 87.8C. It is compliant with ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 and works with PSUs from all manufacturers.

Software Monitoring

On supported ROG cards including the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 50 Series and ROG Matrix RTX 5090, the Equalizer pairs with GPU Tweak III Power Detector+ for per-pin amperage monitoring and real-time anomaly alerts.

Availability

The cable ships bundled with new Thor III and Strix Platinum PSUs in 2H 2026. Existing qualifying owners can claim a discounted cable until 28 November 2026. Black and white versions are available in Q2 2026, backed by a three-year warranty.
