Dropbox Brings Files, Knowledge Search, and Calendar into ChatGPT

Dropbox has expanded its integration with OpenAI‘s ChatGPT, launching three new apps designed to bring file access, workplace knowledge, and calendar management directly into AI-powered conversations. The move reflects growing demand for tighter connections between cloud storage platforms and large language model interfaces.

Three apps, one workflow

The new Dropbox app in ChatGPT allows users to access and preview files stored in Dropbox, save AI-generated content directly back to the platform, and share links without leaving their ChatGPT session. ChatGPT can also reference relevant Dropbox files to assist with drafting and answering questions. The app is available globally to Dropbox customers on any plan.

The Dropbox Dash app extends this further by pulling in knowledge from more than 30 connected workplace applications — email, documents, project tools — and surfacing contextually relevant answers within ChatGPT conversations. Dropbox says results are personalised based on the user’s connected content and existing access permissions. The app is coming in the next few weeks for existing Dash customers, with a free 30-day trial available for new users.

The third offering is the Reclaim AI calendar app in ChatGPT, which connects to Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook. Users can add events, find meeting slots, resolve scheduling conflicts, and review their day’s agenda — all within a ChatGPT session. It is available globally in English to customers on the latest version of Reclaim AI.

Security and permissions carry over

A recurring emphasis in the announcement is that existing Dropbox sharing permissions and access controls remain intact across all three integrations. Whether content is created, accessed, or shared via ChatGPT, Dropbox says the same security boundaries apply as within the native platform.

The apps are available via the ChatGPT app directory at chatgpt.com/apps.
