OpenAI adds $100 ChatGPT Pro tier for Codex power users

OpenAI has introduced a new US$100-per-month ChatGPT Pro subscription tier, positioned between its existing Plus (US$20) and Pro (US$200) plans, targeting professionals and developers who rely on advanced AI tools — particularly its Codex coding agent — for demanding workloads.

A middle tier for serious workloads

The new US$100 Pro plan offers five times the usage limits of the Plus plan, along with ten times the Codex usage compared to Plus for a limited period. OpenAI describes the tier as suited for users running advanced tools and models throughout the week on real projects, rather than occasional use.

The existing US$200 Pro plan remains unchanged as the highest-usage tier, now offering 20 times the usage of Plus. OpenAI has positioned the three tiers as follows:

Codex access drives the new tier

All Pro plans include access to OpenAI’s full suite of advanced capabilities: Pro models, Codex, Deep Research, image creation, memory, and file uploads. The introduction of a US$100 tier reflects growing demand for Codex, OpenAI’s in-platform coding agent, among developers and technical professionals who require higher throughput than Plus allows but may not need the full US$200 plan’s headroom.

Availability and plan management

Users can upgrade to either Pro plan via OpenAI’s Pricing page or through Settings → My Plan, with new limits applying immediately. Switching between the US$100 and US$200 tiers is supported at any time, with billing adjustments applied automatically. OpenAI does not currently offer annual billing for any ChatGPT subscription plan.

Some users in Turkey, Vietnam, Indonesia, South Africa, and Egypt may not see the US$100 option displayed on the ChatGPT iPhone app due to a temporary display issue, though the plan remains accessible via iPhone subscription settings.
