Synology has announced a new home monitoring experience for its BeeStation Plus personal cloud device, enabling users to monitor homes and workspaces using Synology cameras — without cloud subscriptions or recurring fees.
Powered by the new BeeCamera mobile app, the solution integrates local video surveillance directly into the BeeStation Plus ecosystem. The app supports up to four cameras and delivers on-camera AI detection for people, pets, vehicles, and intrusion events.
Smart Monitoring Without the Subscription
The BeeCamera app allows users to customise detection zones, recording schedules, and retention settings based on available BeeStation Plus storage. All detected events are consolidated in a single feed, with filtering by event type and the ability to save key clips to a Collections folder to prevent them from being overwritten.
“BeeStation Plus is built to be a digital hub for home and for small teams. With video becoming a bigger part of everyday life, BeeStation offers a simple way to manage monitoring alongside files and photos, keeping everything private and under the user’s control.” — Yi Ma, Senior Product Manager of BeeStation, Synology
Designed for Homes and Micro-Businesses
The monitoring experience is positioned for two primary use cases: families seeking to keep an eye on loved ones or pets, and small shops or micro-businesses that need reliable surveillance without ongoing costs. Camera access can be shared with up to eight invited users, who can view live feeds, receive alerts, and review recorded events.
Compatibility and Requirements
The BeeCamera mobile app requires BeeStation Plus running BeeStation OS 1.5 or later. Supported camera models at launch include the CC400W, BC500, and TC500. Storage for video is drawn from the same BeeStation Plus pool used for files and photos, so available capacity will vary by usage.
