FairPrice Group (FPG) has begun piloting Singapore’s first autonomous vehicle (AV) route to transport goods between a retailer and a supplier, in partnership with beverage company Pokka.
The route covers a roughly 6km round trip between FPG’s distribution centre and Pokka’s warehouse in Benoi, and trials commenced on 25 February 2026. Once the route receives full approval from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) for remote operations, FPG will transition entirely to AVs for goods transport along this corridor.
A milestone in supply chain automation
The pilot marks the latest step in FPG’s broader push to embed technology across its supply chain. The initiative is designed to improve efficiency, reduce logistics costs, and strengthen supply chain resilience — priorities that have grown more pressing amid rising geopolitical uncertainty.
FPG is no stranger to AV operations. In October 2025, it became the first retailer in Singapore to receive LTA approval to fully remotely operate AVs on public roads. It currently runs over 100 AV trips per week between its own distribution centres, with each trip transporting up to 1.5 tonnes of ambient produce and packaged goods.
The Pokka pilot extends this capability beyond FPG’s internal network to its supplier relationships — a first for the retail sector in Singapore. If successful, FPG plans to roll out similar AV routes with other suppliers.
Fleet expansion and sustainability targets
FPG currently operates a fleet of seven AVs and plans to grow this to close to 30 vehicles. Each AV is estimated to cut the company’s CO2 emissions by 27 tonnes annually, while also reducing manual labour requirements. The company has set a broader target to expand its electric vehicle fleet to over 160 EVs by 2030.
On the supply chain sustainability front, 15 of FPG’s key suppliers participated in its Sustainability Chain Decarbonisation Programme (SCDP) in 2025, which helps partners set tangible decarbonisation targets.
“FPG’s supply chain is the foundation of our entire organisation, and fundamental in helping us keep daily essentials within reach for all in Singapore. This pilot represents an important next step on our journey to embed innovation beyond our business, across our value chain to drive greater operational and sustainability outcomes for ourselves and our partners.” — Vipul Chawla, Group CEO, FairPrice Group
