Alibaba Launches Wukong Enterprise AI Platform

Alibaba Group has launched Wukong, an AI-native enterprise platform designed to integrate agent-based automation into business workflows.

The platform allows multiple AI agents to coordinate tasks within a single interface. These include document editing, spreadsheet updates, approvals processing, meeting transcription, and research tasks. Wukong can operate across local systems, browsers, and cloud environments.

The launch comes after Alibaba’s internal restructuring under the Alibaba Token Hub (ATH) Business Group. Wukong is developed by the Wukong Business Unit and represents the company’s push into enterprise AI agents.

Wukong is currently available through an invitation-only beta. It can be accessed as a standalone desktop application or embedded within DingTalk, Alibaba’s enterprise collaboration platform with over 20 million corporate users. The company plans to expand compatibility to other messaging platforms, including Slack, Microsoft Teams, and WeChat.

Security is a central focus. The platform includes identity authentication, access controls, and enterprise sandbox environments to manage sensitive data and workflows.

Alibaba said its broader ecosystem — including Taobao, Tmall, 1688, Alipay, and Alibaba Cloud — will be integrated into Wukong as modular “agent skills”. The platform will also support third-party integrations, enabling businesses to extend its capabilities across different functions such as e-commerce operations, supplier management, payments, and cloud services.

Wukong also introduces “One-Person Team” (OPT) solutions across ten industries, including retail, manufacturing, finance, legal services, recruitment, and software development. These packages bundle industry-specific tools to help individuals and small teams manage complex workflows.

The platform is built on a redesigned version of DingTalk’s interface, incorporating a command-line interface and open API layer. This enables Wukong to plan tasks, generate instructions, and orchestrate workflows autonomously.

The announcement follows Alibaba’s recent update to its consumer-facing Qwen AI app, as the company continues expanding its AI offerings across both enterprise and consumer markets.

Alibaba’s Wukong enters a growing market for enterprise AI agents, where companies are moving beyond chat-based assistants towards systems that can execute tasks autonomously. Competitors including Microsoft and Google are also investing in agent-based productivity tools integrated into workplace software.

Why It Matters

Wukong signals a shift towards AI systems that can act, not just respond. For businesses, this could reduce manual work and streamline operations, particularly for smaller teams looking to scale without increasing headcount.
