YouTrip has announced the official launch of its eSIM, adding mobile data connectivity to its growing suite of travel essentials and allowing users to stay connected in more than 140 countries.

The YouTrip eSIM is fully integrated within the YouTrip app, enabling users to purchase, activate and manage roaming data under the “Travel” tab. Plans start from S$1, with upfront pricing and real-time data usage tracking designed to help travellers avoid unexpected roaming charges.

Expanding YouTrip’s Travel Ecosystem

The launch marks YouTrip’s latest move to broaden its services beyond multi-currency payments. The company already offers travel-related features such as instant discounts and cashback through YouTrip Perks, as well as travel insurance with cashback benefits.

“With YouTrip’s eSIM, users can now enjoy a simple and cost-effective way to stay connected wherever their journeys take them,” said Kelvin Lam, chief operating officer of YouTrip. “After transforming how travellers manage cross-border payments, we are extending that same value-driven approach to mobile connectivity.”

According to the company, the eSIM rollout follows a successful early-access phase that began in November 2025. Adoption was particularly strong during the year-end travel season, reflecting pent-up demand for affordable and flexible mobile data options.

Strong Take-Up in Regional Destinations

During the early-access period, China, Japan and Malaysia emerged as the most popular destinations for YouTrip eSIM usage, mirroring common travel patterns among Singapore residents.

YouTrip said one in six early users purchased a Malaysia-bound eSIM for short trips to Johor Bahru. In December, there was also an increase in demand for Asia Pacific and Europe data bundles, suggesting interest in multi-country connectivity among frequent travellers.

The company claims its pricing is lower than other eSIM providers across all data tiers. For Japan, YouTrip said travellers could save up to 72 per cent on a 5GB data plan compared with other options available in the market, although it did not name specific competitors.

Launch Promotions and Giveaways

To mark the official launch, YouTrip is offering 50 per cent cashback on users’ first eSIM purchase. The promotion runs from Jan 28 to Feb 10, 2026, and is capped at S$5 per user for the first 2,500 eligible participants who register through the app’s promotional banner.

YouTrip will also run an Instagram giveaway from Jan 29 to Feb 5, featuring an interactive eSIM-themed game. The top five users on the leaderboard will win up to S$500 in YouTrip credits, while three additional winners will receive S$100 in credits by sharing their results on Instagram Stories.
