8×8, Inc. has acquired Maven Lab, a Singapore-based mobile marketing and enterprise messaging provider, as the US-listed company moves to strengthen its customer engagement and communications platform across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
The acquisition expands 8×8’s APAC-native messaging, automation and customer engagement capabilities, with a focus on supporting enterprise and public-sector organisations that require secure, high-volume communications at regional scale. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
8×8 said the move accelerates its strategy to deliver end-to-end customer engagement across APAC, where demand is rising for locally relevant, compliant and scalable communications platforms.
Expanding CPaaS and enterprise messaging in APAC
Maven Lab’s cloud-based customer engagement and messaging platform, Moobidesk, will be integrated into the 8×8 Platform for CX. The company said this will create a more unified and scalable offering for enterprise messaging and automation across the region.
The integration is expected to improve performance across customer interaction channels and strengthen 8×8’s Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) capabilities in APAC, particularly for organisations managing large volumes of notifications, alerts and two-way customer interactions.
“Maven Lab brings deep experience delivering packaged, outcome-oriented messaging solutions that customers can deploy quickly,” said Sylvain Chaperon, general manager for CPaaS at 8×8. “Together, we will expand our ability to help APAC organisations run secure, high-volume customer communications across more channels, with expanded regional coverage and support.”
The combined teams will evaluate further enhancements for the region, including richer interaction experiences, smarter automation and support for emerging digital channels.
Focus on regulated industries and local relevance
The combined platform is aimed at organisations in sectors such as finance, eCommerce, healthcare, logistics and travel, where reliability, governance and data protection are critical.
Maven Lab’s messaging platforms are already used by regional organisations in healthcare, media and transport, delivering millions of customer outreach and notification messages each year. With access to 8×8’s global infrastructure, regional data centres and enterprise-grade compliance controls, customers are expected to see improvements in throughput, reliability and security.
Hiew Wee Soon, co-founder and chief executive of Maven Lab, said the acquisition would enable customers to move beyond basic messaging.
“Joining forces with 8×8 is a step-change for what our customers can do next,” he said. “We are bringing Singapore-built messaging and engagement capabilities together with 8×8’s global scale, security and CPaaS expertise so organisations across Southeast Asia and beyond can launch richer customer journeys faster and automate more intelligently.”
