Global learning platform Kahoot! has unveiled a suite of artificial intelligence (AI) features and tools designed to support students in the new academic year. The features aim to help learners save time, reduce exam anxiety and study effectively, even without an internet connection.
AI-powered study tools
The new study toolkit uses AI to create personalised learning content from handwritten notes, documents, web pages and articles. Kahoot!’s AI generator can transform these into quizzes, practice tests, vocabulary reviews and short lessons.
Other tools include a “Question Extractor” that converts past exam papers into interactive questions, and a “Step-by-step solver” that breaks down complex problems into guided explanations.
Students using iOS devices will also gain offline access through Quiz Starter, an on-device AI tool powered by Apple’s Foundation Models. This allows learners to scan class notes and generate quizzes without internet access, offering added privacy and flexibility.
Features to build confidence
To support test preparation, Kahoot! has launched Test Mode, which simulates exam conditions. Students receive a performance summary only after completing practice sessions, helping them identify knowledge gaps and track progress. The feature is available under the Kahoot!+ Gold subscription.
The platform also introduced motivational tools such as study buddies and achievement streaks. These features aim to keep students engaged with visual milestones, motivational messages and gamified rewards.
For collaborative learning, Kahoot! now supports study groups within its app and website. Accuracy Mode further encourages understanding by rewarding correct answers equally, rather than speed.
Kahoot! cited independent research showing that students who use its platform can improve exam results by an average of one letter grade. With more than 40 per cent of college students reporting that they have skipped tests due to poor preparation or anxiety, the company said its new features are intended to boost confidence and exam readiness.
Alex Remen, vice president of product at Kahoot!, said: “With our new lineup of AI-powered study features, we’re combining the capabilities of generative AI with the engaging experience of Kahoot!. These features offer students a more flexible and impactful self-study experience.”
The AI study tools are available globally through the Kahoot! app and web platform. Basic features can be accessed for free, while premium options such as Test Mode and additional study buddies are part of Kahoot!’s subscription plans.
