Red Alpha has named cybersecurity veteran Pang Tzer Yeu as its new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)-in-Residence, in a move aimed at intensifying efforts to plug Singapore’s cybersecurity talent gap.
With an estimated shortfall of 4,000 cybersecurity professionals locally, Red Alpha’s appointment of Mr Pang underscores its push to develop a future-ready workforce capable of tackling evolving digital threats. The Singapore-based firm specialises in hands-on cybersecurity and tech training, particularly by sourcing talent from non-traditional backgrounds.
Mr Pang brings over two decades of experience defending critical infrastructure and shaping national cyber strategies, having held key roles at the Ministry of Defence, Singapore Armed Forces, and Mediacorp. His new role will see him steering Red Alpha’s training curriculum to better reflect industry needs, mentoring talent, and strengthening engagement with regulators and government bodies.
“The biggest challenge in cybersecurity today isn’t just technology – it’s talent,” said Mr Pang. “Red Alpha is at the forefront of cybersecurity talent development, ensuring that our trainees are ready to defend Singapore’s digital future.”
He added that the company’s unique approach to selecting and training candidates offers a new pipeline of “proactive, high-calibre” professionals, addressing both the quantity and quality of cyber expertise needed.
As cyber threats grow more complex, the global demand for job-ready security professionals continues to outpace supply. Red Alpha has positioned itself as a solution, offering hands-on training that prepares individuals for immediate deployment across sectors.
Mr Yoav Korman, Managing Director of Red Alpha, said: “The cybersecurity skills gap continues to be a pressing issue for organisations across Singapore. With Mr Pang leading our cybersecurity initiatives, we are confident in our ability to nurture industry-ready talent equipped with the right blend of technical expertise and industry insights.”
The appointment marks a significant step in Red Alpha’s broader mission to future-proof Singapore’s cyber defences by deepening its bench of skilled professionals—starting with those who may not follow a traditional tech career path.
